  1. The Second Interview and Salary Negotiations

  2. Entry level negotiations • Entry level positions may be negotiable within a limited range depending on position, employer, organization and perceived value. • You will have some idea to what degree a position is negotiable once you discuss compensation, including the companies pay system with the employees.

  3. Negotiation Stage – Strategies for Low to Mid Range - $20K-$60,000

  4. Negotiation Stage-Strategies for Low to Mid Range - $20-$60,000 • Do not volunteer a salary figure, rather ask the employer “what are your salary requirements?” • When employer responds (which they should unless they’re playing a game) pause for effect. Do Not show emotion of any type. • Remain Professional but bargain hard.

  5. Negotiation Stage-Respond in one of four ways • 1. Accept • 2. Bargain (haggle) • 3. Time to consider • 4. Do not accept • Options 1 and 4 may make you appear too eager or that you are playing hard to get. • Options 2 and 3 offer more opportunity to reach a mutually agreed upon salary.

  6. Negotiation Stage • Remember to negotiate or haggle in a professional manner. • Start negotiations with a salary range from which to begin to bargain against the employer’s salary range.
