  1. ISO / ETSI Activities UpdateR. Roy19 April 2011 • ISO 16440 (WAVE Integration work item) • ETSI STF 422 (FAST networking protocol/SAM update) • ISO TC204 SWG18.2 - ISO 17274 (STF 404 follow-on) • ISO TC204 SWG18.2 - ISO 17275 (ITS-S communication profiles)

  2. ISO 16440 WAVE integration • At the last meeting in Jeju everybody was invited to provide contributions to this new work item: • ISO 21218 supports WAVE as a separate protocol stack • DSAP/SSAP address for SNAP with WAVE Ethertype • TS 102 860 defined common ITS-AID (ITS Application Object Identifier) (IEEE 1609 PSID) April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 2

  3. ISO 16440 WAVE Integration April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 3

  4. ISO 16440 WAVE Integration • TS 102 860 currently defines ITS application objects • ITS application (defined in ISO 21217) • ITS application class (defined in ISO 15628 / ISO 24102) • ITS message set Proposed Revisions: • ITS message set (ITS-MsgSet-ID) identifies message sets • ITS messages (ITS-Msg-ID) – unique inside ITS message set • ITS application/service identifier (ITS-AID) identifies “endpoints”: • Applications • Management plane services • Facilities layer services April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 4

  5. ISO 16440 WAVE integration • Purposes of groupcast messages • Session initiation • Service announcement (push method) (SAM/WSA) • Service discovery (pull method) (IPv6 SD) • Information distribution April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 5

  6. ISO 16440 WAVE integration • Broadcast messages for information distribution • constitute a collection of elements from • either a single ITS message set, or • several ITS message sets, or • Broadcast messages for session initiation • conform to a dedicated protocol (IEEE 1609.3, ISO 24102, DNS-SD). April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 6

  7. ISO 16440 WAVE integration • Addresses used to identify an endpoint above the transport layer • Port number • static (“well-known”) • shared by several ITS applications including ITS facilities layer and management services • dedicated to a single ITS application • dynamic port numbers are used in sessions. • Endpoint sub-addresses can be used in case endpoints share a common port number • ITS-AID • ITS-MsgSet-ID April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 7

  8. ISO 16440 WAVE integration • Recommendations to ETSI for modifications of TS 102 860: • Use variable length field for PortNumber with CHOICE type for 7 bit number (ports 0-127) or 15 bit number (128-32895). • Remove ITS Message Sets from the list of ITS application objects. • Add ITS-MsgSet-ID with same format as ITS-AID in order to uniquely identify ITS message sets. • Remove informative annex B and related statements in body of TS 102 860. These topics are within the scope of ISO 17274. April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 8

  9. ISO TC204 SWG18.2 - ISO 17274 • Classification and management of ITS applications in a global context  • Follow-up activity of STF 404 – ETSI TS 102 860 • Management issues • Certification issues • Registration issues • Proper usage of CALM standards • Joint development with CEN TC278 WG16 • “CEN-Lead” necessary in order to get funds for a project team to develop a draft in the context of mandate /M453 • PT shall act as a “moderator” and “editor”. • A drafting team will perform the work. PT members are part of this drafting team. April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 9

  10. ISO TC204 SWG18.2 - ISO 17275 • ITS application requirements for selection of communication profiles  • Complements ISO 21217 and ISO 24102 • Automatic mapping of ITS-S applications to communication interfaces (protocol stacks) • Requirements relevant for users of ITS station • Requirements not visible to users of ITS station • Definition of technical elements for real-time processing • Joint development with CEN TC278 WG16 • “CEN-Lead” necessary in order to get funds for a project team to develop a draft in the context of mandate /M453 • PT shall act as a “moderator” and “editor”. • A drafting team will perform the work. PT members are part of this drafting team. April 2011 ISO TC204 Prague 10
