SNIA Key Activities- “Big Picture” Activities • CDMI from CSI is current “Big Thing” • Emerald Program from GSI can be next“Big Thing” • Education and Certification situation improving with appointment of Paul Talbut and progress with CompTIA • New Colorado Springs Technology Center is stable with business development and potential being rationalized • SNW is “rebounding” and SDC is poised for another success • International is growing (Malaysia, Brazil) and ISC is “active” • SNIA is in healthy financial state. 2009 featured “recovery” and 2010 “stability” with positive cash and investment position • Three-Year Strategic Plan is being developed (Doug Voigt is Chair)

SNIA Key Activities- Forums and Initiatives: Highlights • Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI), CDMI Specification and Reference Implementation, joint demonstration with OGF OCCI/CDMI, BUR SIG, and, participation in the ISO JTC 1 SC38 meeting in April in Paris. SNIA requesting Category A Liaison and prepared a PAS Submitter application for future CDMI work within ISO JTC 1 • Green Storage Initiative (GSI), SNIA Energy Measurement Specification, power supply efficiency testing, SNIA Emerald Program, EPA EnergyStar, TGG • Storage Security Industry Forum (SSIF) has KMIP interoperability testing planning underway – evaluating several locations • Data Protection and Continuity Optimization (DPCO) to produce an online “Product Reference Guide” • Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI)Enterprise Performance Test Specification (PTS) • Storage Management Initiative (SMI) and Conformance Testing Program (CTP) are on track to full release of SMI-S (SMI-S 1.6). and experiencing growth

SNIA Key Activities- Forums and Initiatives: Details • CSI • SNW Spring 2011Santa Clara: Strong Cloud SNIA tutorial track, Pavilion in Expo, Press Release on CDMI • Multiple webinars and panel discussions on cloud storage – ongoing through BrightTalk • 8 events lined up for cloud presence in 2011 • DPCO Committee • Webcast on “Efficient Regulatory Compliance” taking place April 19, 2011 • SNW Spring 2011 Santa Clara: Dedupe HOL, 2 Tutorials • eBulletin (Newsletter) published quarterly • On-line Product Selection Guide • ESF • iSCSI SIG • Webinar series – 1 completed in Feb; 2 planned for March, and May • NFS SIG • New Whitepaper “Migrating from NFSv3 to NFSv4” • Articles published – SNS Europe • SMI • Expand SMI to be about storage management in general • Support other groups, like Green, SSS, DPCO, Cloud, etc • Maintain focus on SMI-S, while acknowledging that not everything is covered by SMI-S • Promote current SMI-S releases and the work of the SMI • Stimulate more vendor participation, especially from Client vendors

SNIA Key Activities- Forums and Initiatives: Details • SSSI • Solid State Storage Enterprise Performance Test Specification (PTS) in IP review; to be released in June • SNW Spring 2011 Santa Clara: Both featuring a PTS demo from Calypso • Publishing monthly newsletter for SSSI membership • Ongoing blogging • SSIF • OASIS KMIP co-activities • Demonstrations at RSA 2011 • KMIP interoperability testing planning underway – evaluating several locations • Cloud Storage Security presentation/whitepaper discussions with CSI • XAM™ • Press release for ANSI accreditation (Jan 2011) • Request in Q1 made to submit XAM to ISO for accreditation

SNIA Key Activities- Education and Certification Progress • Appointment of Paul Talbut as Global Education Director • CompTIA Agreement signed in November, 2010 for collaboration on new (Replacing SNIA Foundations) credential: “CompTIA Storage + Powered by SNIA” - General Release in Q4, 2011 • New Storage Security credential - partnership forming with (ISC)2 • Tutorials - 100+ in “inventory,” 40 featured in Spring SNW • Video Recordings being made of Tutorials and featured online • Hands-on-Labs - 30 classes featured in Spring SNW

  10. 2011 Marketing Highlightsand Plans • Updated/Refresh all collateral for SNW Spring 2011 Santa Clara • Promoting new SNIA Education programs • Published SNIA 2011 Dictionary (Distributed at April SNW) • Completing 2010 Annual Report (Available as .pdf in mid-April) • Formed Social Media Task Force to create strategy for social media outreach • Promoting Storage Developer Conference • Published first of two issues of FarSighted Newsletter planned for 2011 – March and April editions • Press Releases to-date: Education “Momentum,” and CDMI
