  1. Othello and Iago – a contrast • Choose a play in which the dramatist’s use of contrast between two characters is important to your understanding of one of them. Discuss how your understanding of their character is strengthened by the contrast.

  2. Structure for answering: • Introduction • Comparison between Iago and Othello • Appearance • Behaviour • Character traits • Development of Othello • Conclusion

  3. Development: Othello becomes more like Iago, as Iago’s influence increases

  4. In your groups/ with a partner find evidence for the character traits and behaviour • For each main paragraph come up with an introductory sentence/ a topic sentence.
