  2. GLIMPSE INTO THE PAST The school was founded in 1902. On 24th April 2002 we celebrated the 100th anniversary and the school was given the name of H. Sienkiewicz, one of the greatest Polish writers.

THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL • 27.09.1901 Beginning of the construction • 3.07.1902 Opening of the school • 04.1903 Beginning of the school year • 1.04.1925 Opening of the Polish minority school • 12.12.1944 Last meeting of the Teachers’ Assembly • 4.04.1946 The 43rd anniversary of the school-planting 100 trees • 1956 Beginning of the co-educational system • 1958 Beginning of the secular system of education • 1983Granting a new building to the school • 1989Anna Dzieżyc (Grabias) becomes a new headteacher of the school • 1993Opening of the new building of the school • 1999-2000Introduction of the reform of the educational system • 2002The 100th anniversary of the school • 2003Anna Krasowska becomes a new headteacher of the school

  8. THERE ARE 538 PUPILS ATTENDING THE SCHOOL AND 57 TEACHERS WORKING HERE. IN OUR SCHOOL WE CREATE A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE FOR PUPILS AND EMPLOYEES.THE PUPILS LEARN IN COLOURFUL AND SPACIOUS CLASSROOMS.

  9. THEY HAVE ACCESS TO THE COMPUTER LAB WITH THE INTERNET, GYM AND MODERN LIBRARY.

  10. THERE IS ALSO A CANTEEN AND A COMMON ROOM.

  11. THE PUPILS PUBLISH THEIR OWN SCHOOL NEWSPAPER AND RUN THE RADIO STATION AS WELL.

  12. IN OUR SCHOOL THE TEACHERS ARE TOTALLY COMMITTED TO MAINTAINING AND ENHANCING SCHOOL’S SUCCESSES AND THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION WHERE POSSIBLE. THE SCHOOL PROVIDES SPECIALIZED CLASSES IN NATURAL SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, ART, MUSIC, ICT, HISTORY, P.E. AND MANY ADDITIONAL CLASSES BOTH FOR GIFTED AND SLOW LEARNERS.

  13. THE PUPILS ACTIVELY REPRESENT THE SCHOOL IN VARIOUS SPORTS AND SCIENCE COMPETITIONS WINNING MANY PRIZES.

  14. Our school has also rich traditions in organizing different cultural and sports events.

The school has also participated in many local and international programmes, such as:- Socrates Comenius- e-Twinning- European Network of Health Promoting Schools- The more I know the more I can achieve- Living Safely and Healthy in Gliwice.Our school is an amazing place where pupils can learn and play.
