  1. Please CLOSE YOUR LAPTOPS, and turn off and put away your cell phones, and get out your note-taking materials. Today’s homework quiz on section 11.5 will be given during the last 10 minutes of class.

  2. Review for Test 4

  3. REMINDERS: • No personal calculators or other devices (cell phones, iPads, headphones, etc.) or notes can be used on this test. • You will be given a clean copy of the Math 110 formula sheet to use during this test. • Any attempt to use notes or unauthorized devices or other students’ help will result in a zero score being assigned to your test. If it happens again, you’ll get an F for the course and an academic misconduct citation in your permanent record.

  4. Chapter 7 (Rational expressions) • Chapter 10 (Radicals and radical functions) • Chapter 11 (Quadratic formula) Test 4 is worth 60 points and covers: Please note: There will be at least 2 questions on Test 4that will come from Test 3, so make sure you review your graded Test 3 worksheets.

  5. To study for Monday’s test: • Take Practice Test 4. • It’s required assignment, worth 6 points and due Monday at class time. • You can take it as many times as you want. • Each time you take it, you’ll get a different set of questions (not just same ones with different numbers), so taking it at least 2 or 3 times will give you a wider variety of practice problems to try. • Review your graded worksheet for Test 3(Remember, there will be at least a couple questions on Test 4 that will cover material from Test 3.)

  6. Practice Test Tips: • Use your yellow formula sheet while you take this! • There is no password needed for the practice test. • There are 25 questions on the practice test, but only 20 on the real test. • The time limit on the practice test is 90 minutes, but the time limit on the real (in-class) test is only 55 minutes. • Each time you take the practice test you will get a different set of questions, so taking it at least twice will help you review more of the topics and problems that might appear on the test.

  7. More Practice Test Tips: • Practice showing work for the real test by showing work for each practice test problem in your notebook, and practice checking answers before submitting your practice test. • You DON’T have to finish a practice test all on one session. On the PRACTICEtest, you can do part of it, then close it (DON’T submit the unfinished quiz, just close the window and leave the page) and come back later to finish it without losing any time off your clock. • When you REVIEW submitted tests, the online help buttons like “help me solve this” will become visible for each question.

  8. Teachers: • Based on your section’s performance on the daily HW and quizzes (using the Item Analysis function), select concepts and problems to review with your section. • You may want to also re-review some problems from Test 3 that your section had trouble with. • When you finish going over problems, have the class work on their practice tests until quiz time. • Remember to start the daily quiz in time to allow them the full 10 minutes to take it.

  9. Practice Test 4 is due on Monday. There is no new homework assignment due next Tuesday, but it would be a good idea to get started early on Final Exam Review HW 1, which is a longer than usual assignment due next Wednesday.

  10. You may now OPENyour LAPTOPS and begin working on Practice Test 4 until it’s time to take Quiz 11.5 during the last 10 minutes of class. Remember, the help lab in 203 is open until 6:30 tonight and starting at 8:00 a.m. Monday.

  11. You will have access to the online calculator on your laptop during this quiz. No other calculator may be used. Please open Quiz 11.5.You have 10 minutes for this quiz. You may use the pink formula sheet on this quiz – please don’t write on this sheet, and remember to hand it back in with your quiz answer sheet.
