  2. Early Man • Technology-The proper application of knowledge to develop new tools or ways to make and do things. • Adapt-To Change to fit the surroundings. • Hunters And Gatherers- Members of Homo Sapiens who spent many hours a day searching for food • Role-The part a person plays in society.

  3. Farmer and City Dwellers • Plow-To cut, Lift, and turn over soil • Slash-And-Burn-Farming- A system of faming in which thick forestlands are cut and burned to prepare soil For planting • Barter- Trade for people’s needs • Irrigations-To move water to land

  4. Mesopotamia • Standing Army-Permanent army • Empire- A man in Control • Deities- One exalted or revered , Powerful god.

  5. Egypt • Papyrus- Paper like material to write on • Pharaoh- a Ruler • Hieroglyphs- Pictures or symbols for someone to know what it means • Diplomacy-Conducting negotiations.

  6. Greece • Farmers- To Plant Crops • Trade- to Give up something for something you want • Peninsula- To Get more water when needed • Isthmus-To Get to one land to another

  7. Rome • Arable-Good for growing crops • Road – First civilization to Build roads to connect to empire. • Forum- Public place for gods to discuss.
