OAI based Collaboration • The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, OAI-PMH or OAI, was born in the Digital Library community in the early 00’s • The protocol specifies a standard client-server that is used to exchange XML based metadata • The first (and mandatory) metadata exchanged was Dublin Core, or DC metadata, a collection of 15 elements to contain the core information • At the present, one OAI search engine has >10 million records from 830 institutions

  7. Current status • ~8000 ISO19139 “beta” records are available for harvesting • Will be creating an ISO19139 to THREDDS stylesheet
