  2. Crack! • Crack is a lower, free form of free-base cocaine. Freebase and crack are often smoked. The origin of the name is from the crackling sound it makes when it is heated.

  3. Crack! • How is it produced? • Crack is produced by dissolving powdered cocaine in a mixture of water and ammonia or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The mixture is boiled until a solid item forms. The solid is then removed from the liquid, dried, and then broken into the chunks (rocks) that are sold as crack cocaine.

  5. CRACK! • What does it look like? • Crack typically is available as rocks. Crack rocks are white (or off-white) and vary in size and shape. Some times, it can be sold as powder, maybe even a liquid so people can put it into needles and stick it inside themselves.

  6. How is crack abused? • Crack is nearly always smoked. Smoking crack cocaine causes large portions of the drug to go to the lungs, giving an instant and strong ecstatic effect.

  7. Crack! • Crack is HIGHLY addictive and most likely KILL you sooner or later. • This is not a joke, the show intervention deals with many, MANY cases with crack. • Probably at least 100 people die a day of drug abuse and/or crack abuse.

  8. How to get rid of an addiction • Sometimes, people have trouble with an addiction to crack, or any other drug. Alcohol, maybe. They may need to go to rehab, but some won’t go. These people may have to have an Intervention. • Intervention: Contact for an intervention for substance abuse (alcohol abuse, drug abuse), addiction (alcoholism, drug addiction), gambling, sex addiction, eating disorders, computer addiction, internet addiction and other self-destructive behaviors. • (Gotten from wikipedia)

  9. Survey! • 6,222,000 U.S. citizens 12 years old and older used crack at least once in their lifetime. • Hundreds of thousands of teenagers and young adults use crack cocaine--150,000 people aged 12 to 17 and 1,003,000 people aged 18 to 25 used the drug at least once.
