  1. Configuration of a supervisor CamTrace

  2. A supervisor CamTrace is a CamTrace server on which you declare once again all cameras located on a number of remote sites. It enables you to build a hierarchical architecture. • The supervisory CamTrace can group several hundreds of cameras that are in fact attached physically to remote CamTraces. • Let us take for example the following configuration : • CamTrace-D1 manages 3 cameras: camA, camB, camC • CamTrace-D2 manages 5 cameras: camD, camE, camF, camG, camH • CamTrace-D3 manages 4 cameras: camI, camJ, camK, camL • The three CamTrace cameras above are all conneced to an extended Internet (WAN) network or private network. A fourth CamTrace called the supervisor is also connected to the extended network. • We will declare 12 cameras corresponding to all cameras managed by the three remote CamTraces. The video flows will be received from all three remote CamTraces (and not from the cameras).

  3. CamTrace sequencing to a supervisor : D E F G H I J K L A B C Switch Switch Switch CamTrace Server D2 Remote CamTrace CamTrace Server D1 CamTrace Server D3 Internet or Local network Supervisor CamTrace

  4. The supervisor CamTrace will thus manage 12 cameras : • camA_CTD1, camB_CTD1, camC_CTD1, • camD_CTD2, camE_CTD2, camF_CTD2, camG_CTD2, camH_CTD2, • camI_CTD3, camJ_CTD3, camK_CTD3, camL_CD3 • With the supervisor CamTrace you can : • Display any camera from the same interface. • Create groups by mixing cameras located on a number of remote CamTraces. • Create plans with cameras located on a number of sites. • Perform centralised recording, in addition to those performed on each site. • Quickly check the operation of all cameras in any or all groups • Trigger local alarms via alarms originating from remote CamTraces.

  5. Display any camera from the same interface : camA_CTD1 camK_CTD3 camF_CTD2 camJ_CTD3 camH_CTD2 camB_CTD1

  6. Create plans with cameras located on a number of sites : Supervisor CamTrace CamTrace Server D1 CamTrace Server D3 CamTrace Server D2

  7. Create plans with cameras located on a number of sites : Supervisor CamTrace

  8. Configuration to be performed on remote CamTraces. • These configurations are useful if you wish to relay an alarm triggered on a remote CamTrace to the supervisor level. To do this, you must specify, in each remote CamTrace, which supervisor CamTrace is concerned and which port to use for the alarms. • These parameters are set in Administration -> Configuration in the section "parameters for event messages" as follows: • In the "network host receiving messages" field, type in the IP address of the supervisor CamTrace. • If the supervisor CamTrace is located behind a router, type in the public IP address of the router on the WAN side and activate address translation (NAT) in the router. • In "target TCP port" type the port used to convey the alarm signals (by default 8001). • In "message format" type the character chain: %E %i

  9. Then, if you want to send the alarm messages to the supervisor CamTrace, you must declare an active schedule (other than "never") in the "Messages with alarm" field in each camera concerned. • In our example, the "host" camera will send TCP alarm messages to the supervisor when it has an alarm (irrespective of the cause of this alarm – dry contacts – motion detection in the camera, motion detection by CamTrace )

  10. Configuration to be performed on the supervisor CamTrace. • The supervisor CamTrace collects the video flows coming from the remote CamTraces. • You must declare all or some of the cameras connected to the remote CamTraces on the Supervisor CamTrace. • On the supervisor CamTrace, these cameras are declared as cameras connected locally in administration/cameras. It is the camera model that differs (also called camera servers); you must use the "camtrace"   model. • The name of the camera is open to choice. We of course recommend that you give it the same name as the remote camera ("host" camera in our example) followed by a remote CamTrace ID (Camtrace D1 in our example). Which give us in our example : CTD1_Host • In camera "server type«  (or camera model) select : camtrace

  11. Configuration to be performed on the supervisor CamTrace. • In "IP adresse IP", select the address of the remote CamTrace on which the camera is located. If the remote CamTrace is located behind a router, type the public IP address of the router on the WAN side. • The parameters: image size, compression and video channel cannot be modified on the supervisor. If you wish to modify these parameters you must do so at the level of the remote CamTrace on which the camera is effectively connected. • Note : a mobile camera cannot be piloted on the supervisor CamTrace. • Then enter all the recording and alarm parameters as with a normal camera.

  12. Configuration to be performed on the supervisor CamTrace. • In "Advanced parameters" enter the "HTTP port for the camera". This is the video channel used by CamTrace. By default this port is 8000. • In the "other URL argument" field, specify the ID of the camera on the remote CamTrace using the syntax: id =n (in our example the "host" camera ID is 1 on the CamTrace D1 server). • Note: Camera numbers (or IDs) represent information internal to CamTrace information and appear in Administration->Cameras->Detailed information (see Camera configuration). Each camera has a unique number. • We strongly recommend you select "automatic shutdown of video flows" to prevent saturation of the link between CamTraces. When "automatic shutdown of video flows" is enabled, the flows from the remote camera qre interrupted when no one is viewing from the supervisor and when there is no recording.

  13. Configuration to be performed on the supervisor CamTrace. • Note : when "automatic shutdown of video flows" is selected, there is no pre-alarm image on the supervisor. • In the "If flows stop, check the camera every" field, specify the interval for checking the camera, for example: 120 for 2 minutes. • Note : In our example, all alarms from the "host" camera located on CamTrace D1 triggers, nights and weekends, an alarm on the supervisor Camtrace whose recording on this supervisor at 5 images per second (or less if the bandwidth is insufficient) of a camera called "host_CTD1" whose images originate from the "host" camera. When there are no alarms or display, flows will be cut off. However the supervisor will connect every 2 minutes to CamTrace D1 to check the presence and the operation of the "host" camera. • Note : In a group or single view of the supervisor CamTrace, the "force recording" key triggers recording on the supervisor CamTrace (and not on the remote CamTrace).
