  2. Default values • CamTrace is configured by default and has two Ethernet network interfaces, RJ-45 ports, ‘ENT’ label for ‘entreprise’ and ‘CAM’ label for ‘camera’ ; • Default address of company network : 192.168.1.100 • Default address of camera network : 192.168.0.100 • IP address can be modified in Menucam.

Fixed IP cameras • Install your cameras in fixed IP mode ; • Configure your cameras using the manufacturer’s configuration software (IP Utility for Axis cameras, IP Finder for Cam-IP, etc.) ; • Keep the default passwords for cameras. • For example, for Axis cameras : Login : root Password :pass • Choose the following IP address : 192.168.0.XX ; XX can be between 1 and 99.

Two network cards • Two network cards: one for the security network (cameras) and one for the company network ; • Then, connect a VGA screen, a keyboard and a mouse to the CamTrace console (otherwise, refer to the Appendix: access to theMenucam via a client workstation using the Putty utility) ; • Connect the output labelled ‘enterprise’ to the local network of the company (hub or switch) with a RJ-45 network cable ; • Then connect the output labelled ‘camera’ to the camera network ; • When it is switched on, you can start the server.

  6. Access to Menucam via the console • The machine starts up and the CamTrace logo (eye) appears ; • Three beeps indicate server startup ; • If you have a screen/keyboard/mouse connected to the console, the Login dialog box appears on your screen ; • Enter the default administrator name and password ; • Login : root ; • Password : camtrace ; • The system administrator command prompt appears : Machine_name # • Then, type menucam to display the management menu for CamTrace configuration services.   7. Menucam Press the Esc key to move up in the Menucam menu hierarchy. Esc

  8. Add cameras using Menucam • In Menucam, choose ‘Camera configuration’.

  9. Add cameras using Menucam • The sub-menu 1 ‘List active cameras’ specifies the list of cameras recognized as active (IP, model, description, version and name). This function is not available for certain camera models.

  11. Add cameras using Menucam • Sub-menu ‘Automatically add cameras to the database’ enables you to automatically add cameras to your CamTrace. Cameras undetected automatically can be added manually via the CamTrace web interface.

  12. Client workstation • Via a client workstation equipped with a web browser (Internet Explorer), add the IP address of your CamTrace to the trusted sites ; • Confirm the pop-ups displayed by CamTrace ; • Ports used: 80 / 8000 / 8001 / 8002 • Then, connect by typing the CamTrace IP address in your Web browser. • The identification interface appears.

Appendix: Access to Menucam via a client workstation • Via a client workstation connected to the network, you can connect to the CamTrace server in ssh mode. • Default address for company network: 192.168.1.100 • Default address of camera network: 192.168.0.100 • With the Putty utility, that you can download free of charge from the Internet or from the CamTrace CD, you can access Menucam. • In the next example, we used CamTrace 15 to perform a demonstration. Its IP address is 192.33.160.15

Appendix: access to Menucam using a client workstation • After connecting using the Putty utility, you must enter the user names and passwords (camtrace/camera). • Login as : camtrace • Camtrace@192.33.160.15’s password : camera • Then, enter ‘su’ for super user • Password : camtrace • Go to the system menu by typing menucam and pressing the Enter key.
