Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) • Provides guidance for preparation and submission of proposals to NSF • Specifies process for deviations including individual program solicitations • Describes process -- and criteria -- by which proposals will be reviewed • Outlines reasons why a proposal may be returned without review

  5. BIO Compliance Checking • At a minimum, all programs in BIO compliance check for 3 items • Font size & spacing: • must be >= 10 pt font size • type density <=15 characters per 2.5 cm (one inch) • vertical spacing <= 6 lines per vertical space of 2.5 cm (one inch) • Number of pages: max. 15 pages for project description

  6. BIO Compliance Checking • Project Summary must clearly address in separate statements(1) intellectual merit and (2) broader impacts. Proposals that do not separately address both merit review criteria within the one page project summary will be returned without review.

  7. Additional Requirements That May Be Checked • Some programs in BIO may have additional requirements that will be included in the compliance check. • For example: • DDIG: letter of candidacy • Ecosystems Studies: List of collaborators Check the Program Announcement!

  8. General Notes • Font size must satisfy all GPG requirements. • Follow page limit. • Address Broader Impacts and Intellectual Merit in the project summary. • Fill out all forms honestly and accurately. • Spell check and grammar check. • Double check AFTER FastLane upload.
