  3. What Kind of FTP Software You Need • Web Browsers: • 브라우저는 대부분 FTPclient를 가짐. • Command-Driven Programs: • Some operating systems such as UNIC and Windows 98. • GUI Programs: an interface that uses windows and clickable buttons ex.) WS-FTP(for windows)

Basic Procedure for Using Any FTP Client • Connecting to the FTP Server: • log in with a user name and password • 계정이 없으면anonymous로 접속 (메시지 앞에 붙는 세 자리 숫자를 통해 FTP Server에 문서 전송 과정을 알 수 있다. 예를 들면, 226은 전송 완료를 표시) • Transferring Files: download, upload할file 형식 선택 • ASCII mode: HTML을 포함한text files • Binary(for Image) mode: unformatted text, graphics, audio, video files

Command-Driven Clients (UNIX & Windows 98/95) Overview - UNIX GUI 환경에서 명령어를 사용하려면, open command shell window (ex. xterm window). - Windows 98: Start | Run command • FTP server의 host name 한 칸 띄우고 ftp입력 • User name 입력, 계정이 없으면 anonymous 입력 • Password 입력, anonymous FTP는 전자메일 주소를 입력 • 어떤 문서를 어떤 형식으로 download나 upload할 것인 지 결정하고 적절한 명령어 사용 • 문서전송이 끝나면 quit이나 bye를 써서 FTP Server 연결을 끊음.

Changing Directories on the FTP Server • Type cd, to change directories(실행되면 “250 CWD command successful” 메시지가 나옴) • Type pwd(Print Working Directory), to find out the name of the current directory • Top folder를 root folder라고 하고, folder A가 folder B를 내포하고 있을 때, A는 B의 parent folder라고 부름. • cd .. : parent directory로 변경 • cd / : top-level directory로 옮겨 갈 때 • 파일 이름의 대·소문자 구별

Listing Files & Folders in the FTP Server’s Current Directory 명령어 dir: 전체 files과 folders 목록 제시 (ls: 더 짧은 목록 제시) • dir c*: c로 시작하는 file이나 directory 이름 보여줌 • dir *.txt: 모든 text files을 보여줌 • dir index*: index로 시작하는 filed을 보여줌 • dir *.zip, dir *.tar, dir *.hqx: 차례대로 PC, UNIX, Macintosh 컴퓨터의 압축 파일을 모두 보여줌.

  8. Selecting the Current Folder on Your Computer • lcd : to change the current local directory • lcd .. : to move to the parent folder of the current folder • 하위 폴더로 이동하려면 lcd 뒤에 한 칸 띄우고 folder name 입력. • ex.) lcd c:/myfiles: folder myfiles on the C drive of a PC

Uploading / DownloadingFiles(I) - FTP Server에 접속 - 파일을 보관하고자 하는 FTP Server의 directory로 변경 - Current directory를 Upload할 파일이 있는 computer의 folder로 setting - File의 종류에 따라 ASCII나 Binary 중에서 선택 - FTP Server에 접속 - download하고자 하는 파일이 있는 FTP Server의 directory로 변경 - Current directory를 download한 파일을 보관할 computer folder로 setting - File의 형식에 따라 ASCII나 Binary 중에서 선택
