MKE 4 kick waveform scan TI 8 MD 6/6/09

MKE 4 kick waveform scan TI 8 MD 6/6/09. Jan Uythoven Thanks to Mike B, Stephane and Jerome. Calibration of BTV beam position vs. kicker voltage, all TI 8 screens. Two best screens: BTV813 and BTV876. Raw data: BTV pos – timing delay for BTV813. Apply Calibration, Swap Curve by 180 degrees.

  1. MKE 4 kick waveform scanTI 8 MD 6/6/09 Jan Uythoven Thanks to Mike B, Stephane and Jerome

  2. Calibration of BTV beam position vs. kicker voltage, all TI 8 screens • Two best screens: BTV813 and BTV876

  3. Raw data: BTV pos – timing delayfor BTV813

  4. Apply Calibration, Swap Curve by 180 degrees BTV876 BTV813

  5. Mean and error bars (spread =)for both screens

  6. Results of both screens agree rather well: Zoom on previous slide

  7. Conclusions • BTVs provide very precise measurement of kick waveform • The kick used for LHC beams is just within the spec of 1 % ripple • For LHC operation the MKE4 kick should be made longer, similar to CNGS, and the last part of the kick to be used after further measurements • Reduce ripple seen by the beam • Less stress on the clipper switch
