ESC Purpose The purpose of the Exempt Staff Council is to serve as a direct channel of two-way communication between regular exempt staff and senior UTC administration by: • Soliciting and disseminating information • Serving as an advisory body to the Chancellor • Serving on campus committees as requested • Participating in the operation of UTC

  4. ESC Committees • By-Laws Committee • Compensation Committee • Policies and Procedures Committee • Publicity Committee

ESC Accomplishments 2005 - 06 • Council Assisted ERC in coordinating the campus wide picnic for staff and faculty thanking Dr. Obear in June and a Welcome Picnic for Chancellor Brown in August • Informational sessions were presented by administrators on topics such as UTC Place, Capital Projects Update, the proposed Wellness Center and the Performance Appraisal Process • Chancellor Brown met with the Council in October sharing his vision for the university and discussed member concerns

ESC Accomplishments (cont.) • ESC chair participated in the UT System Employee Relations Advisory Board meetings in June and December with the other UT campus representatives and Dr. Peterson and Sylvia Davis discussing areas of concern from each campus • Compensation committee has been working with Human Resources, reviewing our previous compensation equity plan and continuing to work on a plan to try to bring exempt staff up to market value • By-Laws Committee is currently reviewing the By-Laws and representative areas for the upcoming elections in the spring. Elections are held every two years for all council positions

ESC– 4 R’s • Retain – good employees • Est. 70% with 7 years service or less • Reward – long term employees • Valuable to UTC • Regain – equity for all divisions • Continue reduction of compression for exempt, non-exempt & faculty • Restore – Professional development • Restore funds for professional development & travel
