  1. Comm Arts-Day 2 (Computers are needed at the END of class) Bell Ringer • Type 1 in your journal: When you hear the word nature what do you think of? Three lines, two minutes OR you may draw, but it is still only two minutes.

  2. Lesson Goal and Essential Question • Lesson Goal: I can understand that humans and nature mutually impact each other. • Essential Question: What is nature?

  3. Discussion Starters • What is our connection to nature? Is it important to our daily lives? Why or why not? (2 mins)

  4. Baptisms, p. 42 • Today we are beginning our ecology unit and to start we need to know what nature is, but also what our role is. Let’s read a poem, Baptisms, p. 42. While reading students will write down at least 1 thought and 1 question.

  5. Small Group discussion time • Break up into small groups, each group will have a question they need to answer on a sheet of paper and turn in at the end of class.

  6. Discussion Ender • Based on the rereading of the poem, and your group discussions, what is this author trying to say about humans and nature?

  7. Exit Ticket • Poll on Edmodo: What is nature? • A. Trees • B. The environment around us • C. The earth • D. All of the above

  8. Homework • Respond to this question. What do you think the author thinks about human’s and nature’s interactions and connections? Do you agree or disagree with the author?
