Class of 2015 • Demonstrate proficiency in Essential Skills: • Read and comprehend a variety of text • Write clearly and accurately • Apply mathematics in a variety of settings • Students will have multiple options and opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency in the Essential Skills by: • Achieving a state determined score on the state assessment tests (OAKS) in reading, writing and mathematics • Achieving a state determined score on another standardized test (SAT, ACT, etc.) • Completing an approved locally scored assessment such as a work sample or student project • Students will begin state testing in the 10th or 11th grade

Online Forecasting, cont. • Courses have been pre-loaded: • English 9 • Math 9 (middle school recommendations for either Algebra I, Geometry or Advanced Algebra) • Biology • World History • Wellness I • Courses students select: • World Language (Japanese, French, Spanish) • Electives (PE, Art, Music, Drama, etc.)

Online Forecasting, cont. • Each time a change is made, an email will be sent to the student’s email, the parent’s email and to the school for counselors to review • In late August, students will access a copy of their schedule online and there will be a designated day to make changes with their high school counselor, if necessary • School photos will be taken on the 9th grade scheduling day, prior to the start of school

17. Summer School • WHS will host Summer School • Summer School begins on Monday, June 27th and ends on Tuesday, July 26th • Freshmen can register for Wellness I • Please visit the WHS website at Academics/Summer School for registration forms and class schedule

Advanced Placement Courses (AP) • WHS offers 18 different AP courses in the following curriculum areas: • English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Language and Art • Benefits include: • Rigorous, college level coursework; potential to earn college credit in high school; and bonus point on GPA • Students typically take their first AP course in the 10th grade

Oregon University System “D” Policy • Students must satisfactorily complete, with a grade of C or better, 14 core subject requirements. • 4 years of English • 3 years of Math culminating in Algebra II or higher • 2 years of Science (3 yrs to graduate from WHS) • 3 years of Social Science • 2 years of the same World Language
