Aquaculture in Libya Hassan M. Ghebli SIPAM Libyan National coordinator Marine Biology Research Center Tajura- Libya 21-23/06/2005 Split. Aquaculture is a recent activity in Libya. it was started by culturing of many fresh water fish species during the seventies
Marine fish culture, followed a about ten years later under the governmental sector.
The development was slow and the production limited due to inefficient governmental management of such activities.
In the recent years a number of private investors appeared in this field.
Even though their knowledge and experience are very limited,
(Suitable climate that suits many
species, low pollutions and the
cheap power source.)
Aquaculture could prosper in Libya in the near future, in the production as well as species diversity, considering the mentioned advantages and the good management.
Thank you All the production as well as species diversity, considering the mentioned advantages and the good management.
