  2. Types of Companies • Local • This type of company only provides services to the local community • E.g. • chemist • Doctors • Hairdressers

  3. Types of Companies • National • This type of company provides services nationally • E.g. Boots the chemist • Lloyds the chemist • Welsh Water • Hospitals

  4. Types of companies • International Companies • These companies provide product and services for the international community • E.g. Symantec, Microsoft, Glaxo smithkline Beechham

  5. What do I need to find out! 1. Where they are • Map, address and description of where they are found e.g. Mayberry Pharmacy 175 High Street Blackwood. This is on the high street where it is local to bus services and within walking distance of 4 GP practises. There are also good transport links via A048 for deliveries of equipment and deliveries of medication to other local villages.

What services they provide. • Mayberry pharmacy provides the following services:- • Dispensing of prescription • Urine samples are testing for the pregnancy hormone • Delivering prescription • Giving advice on different types of medication and offering advice of simple medical conditions • Blood pressure monitoring

A pharmacist must have a good understanding of how drugs types affect the body, they need a good understanding of innumeracy to ensure that doctors do not prescribe incorrect dosages, good communication skills to interact with people that visit the shop and finally they need good problem solving skills to identify if a patient is getting the correct medication or mixture of medicines.
