  1. Welcome to 6th Grade APS….Academic and Personal Success Robin Greene – Math APS Courtney Long - L/A APS

  2. How does the APS class support the core class? By focusing on items at a deeper level than time allows for in the core class By spiraling skills and vocabulary throughout the year to ensure that students don’t forget By assessing skill level and creating a plan to either intervene or accelerate a student

  3. Purpose of APS The purpose of APS (Academic and Personal Success) is to provide enrichment and support for the Math and L/A curriculum.  APS is not designed to be a study hall and we will not usually be assigning homework.    We are focusing on interaction and collaboration between students while developing the math/language arts and academic skills needed for students to be successful in their core classes. In addition to math & L/A skills we work on Academic Behaviors. We work on organization, goal setting, study skills, time management, etc. These behaviors improve student success both in academic settings and in life itself.

  4. Format of the Math APS Class • Weekly Computation Checks • Weekly Assessments for Learning • Weekly Math Fluency practice through use of iPadaps and other technology • Weekly targeted practice on chosen skill(s) • Weekly computer lab time to check grades on TxGradebook and make a plan if needed to improve in any subject (opportunity for bonus points). Also, students will work on Buzz Math (skill specific to their Computation Check results)
