  16. An “Application", is a computer software designed to help the user to perform singular or multiple related specific tasks. It can be used on one or multiple devices. “Green” is a term used for a behavior or activity towards environmental protection and care. Reflects a positive attitude for efficient management of resources. But what is a green app? What is a Green Application? A ”Green App", is an app designed to help the user to perform different tasks towards environmental protection and efficient use of resources.

Green applications for citizens We have defined 5 types of green applications: 1) GREEN INFORMATION & ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Apps with general environmental information. i.e location of natural parks or eco-lodges, recycling sites, green or eco-advices. Apps to asess the environmental footprint of my activities: like CO2 I produce daily, eco-calculators. 2) RESPONSIBLE GREEN MANAGEMENT: Apps to manage resources & improve efficiency: like turn off or on home electronics, appliances, sustainable mobility applications, etc 3) CLIMATE INFORMATION FOR DECISION MAKING: Apps with real-time display of environmental conditions or disasters for decision-making. Also weather conditions. 4) GREEN PRODUCTS PURCHASE (BUY GREEN): Apps that allow access to stores information on where to buy green products 5) GREEN GAMES: Apps with eco-games allowing interaction with the user.
