  2. 1960 I use the electric calculator for Bessel function in my Thesis-Supersonic Flutter in Fluid-Solid interaction. • 1970 I start to use the paper tape as input device and assembly language to compute eigenvalue problems. • 1980 I use punched card as input device to solve eigenvalue problems in UC Berkeley. 2013 Co-Design, Guilin

  3. 1982 My advisor and I were developing a FEM program on microcomputer without hard disk. Everything including operating system and FORTAN compiler is on a 8 in. Floppy disk with 64k capacity. • 1983 IBM made first PC-XT in the world. Then my FEM program start get in the market. Because before this time 2013 Co-Design, Guilin

  4. node, there is no any compiler which works well. But IBM-XT does. Since then my FEM program system were welcomed in China nationwide and get in the market in 1984. Now we are working in landslide project which needs modeling a mountain or a hill during a long heavy raining. 2013 Co-Design, Guilin

  5. It needs hundred million’s mesh and nonlinear solving for practical engineering problem. Now we go to Tianhe-1A(2011). • Now it is 2013. What will be happened in 2033? • From application point of view, we welcome the progress in hardware. Because it is a real requirement from the engineering. 2013 Co-Design, Guilin

  6. Now the problem is that the software development is far behind the hardware. • Exa-scale machine is absolutely necessary. We should face to the challenge.
