  7. Cochlear Implant • Only for people who are profoundly deaf • Does not amplify sound • Bypasses the “damaged” part of the ear

  8. “The device is a mechanical prosthesis of sorts for the inner ear. It bypasses the bones of the inner ear, placing electrodes directly into the cochlea, where sound waves are absorbed and interpreted by the auditory nerve.”

  9. Hearing Aid • Hair cells in inner ear must pick up vibrations from Hearing Aid • Amplifies the sounds • For people who are hard of hearing

  16. Persuasive Essay • Use the rubric to guide you writing this essay. • 5 paragraphs (intro, conclusion, 3 supporting) • Due Friday March 2nd

  17. Outline • Make an outline for your paper. Remember, intro, conclusion and 3 supporting facts. • After you have had your outline checked by me start writing your paper.
