  1. Mountaineering In Trentino

  2. Free time up in the mountains Nearly all people living in Trentino love the mountains and many practice mountain sports. The region is a paradise for mountain lovers and those who like to be fit and live naturally. It seems that every summer at least one million people use the Alpine refuges in Trentino and a large number of them challenge higher altitudes, climbing peaks and crossing glaciers along diffucult itineraries. There are two old associations in Trentino: - the SAT: the Trentino Mountain Climbing Association which is the largest branch of the CAI, the Italian Alpine Club, with almost 20,000 members • the SOSAT, the workers section of the same society, maintaining the paths and running the refuges and bivouacs.  Many of us belong to any of the two associations and spend Sundays togheter trekking or practicing mountain sports.

  3. These two mountain associations have a long History, as you can see form the photo above.

  4. Mountaineering is the sport, hobby or profession related to: - walking • Hiking • Trekking • Climbing It is also called alpinism, particularly in Europe. It began as a general attempt to reach the highest point of unclimbed mountains, then it has developed into specializations connected to different aspects of mountains and may now be said to consist of three aspects:

  5. Mountaineering 1. rock-craft, 2. snow-craft 3. skiing depending on whether the route is Over rocks, snow, ice or rock. All the specializations demand great athletic and technical ability, and experience is also very important.

  6. The photo shows a path along a Via Ferrata, which translates as "iron trail." These are hiking and climbing trails with fixed steel cables and ladders to make ascents easier and protect from slips or falls. This means that anyone in shape can travel through mauntain terrain without paths.

  7. We often go skiing in Folgaria, only 20 min. from our school!

  8. We love spending our free-time within our mountains: every season is the right one to have fun and keep in shape. Join mountainering soon!!!!
