  1. Children Ministry Friday Night May 5th, 2013

Resource needed 7:30-9:30P.M. • 8 Christian adults, 7 helpers to sustain classes • Cubbies - 1 teacher (age 2.9 to 5), 1 helper • Pre-Cubbies - 1 teacher (age 1 to 2.9) • Handbook 1 - 1 teacher, 1 helper • Handbook 2 - 1 teacher, 1 helper • Handbook 3 - 1 teacher, 1 helper • Game - 1 teacher 2 helpers • Council time - 1 teacher, 1 helper • Special need helper/ Hallway monitor – 1 adult

Now • About six dedicated Christian adults to support Awana. • No time to recruit or coordinate • Constant “battle” to find resource • Near burn out. • No Nursery on Friday Night • New need arise. • Age 1 to 2.9 in Cubbies room now – a band-aid solution. • Add one dedicated resource coordinated from Youth parent, POP and KMC • POP sets a baby area in fellowship room • Do not have dedicated personnel for special need • People willing to help are either non-believer, young parents, or new Christian.

  4. Outlook • Expect number continue to grow • Children Ministry need for Lowell Student Fellowship • Special need is trending up with many different spectrum

  5. Challenges • Friday night tiredness • Special events • Overlapped resource • Many experienced volunteers kids has either out grown or moved. • New teacher/helpers are either new Christian or non-believers but not encouraged to serve. • People who does not want to join fellowship. • “Watched” the kids! • KMC is working on a draft for coworker policy. • Lack of experienced 1-on-1 special need children helper.

  6. Options • Hire long term children coworker? • In history, CBCGL hired outside youth licensed babysitter while in Tyngsboro • Gordon Conwell student who has a heart with children for Awana? • Dedicated coordinator within each congregation to support Children Ministry on resource? • KMC is considering to add a Children Parent Forum at Adult Sunday School hour
