  4. Small Groups • Break into small group of 3 to 4 • Identify resources at your specific institution where you feel the most support as a student/student leader • Where do you feel you can be your most authentic self?

  6. Reflection in Action For what moment today am I most grateful? For what moment am I least grateful? Or… When did I feel most alive today? When did I most feel life draining out of me? Or… What was today’s high point? What was today’s low point?

  7. How can ones values affect the behavior of Leaders? Instrumental Values “ Short term goals” Terminal Values “ Long term goals” Are categorized as beliefs about the types of behavior that are appropriate for reaching goals For Example: • Honesty • Responsibility • Forgiveness Are categorized as beliefs about the kinds of goals or outcomes that are worth pursing in your life For Example: • Self respect • Sense of accomplishment • Inner harmony

  8. Self Commitment VS. Student Leader Commitment What are you doing for yourself vs. what are you doing for others on a daily basis?

Self Commitment vs. Student Leader Commitment • Write one new thing you learned about yourself today • Write one goal you are going to commit to work on for the fall semester • How do you plan to commit to your peers as a student leader and hold others accountable to structure balance in their everyday lives?

  10. Refection in Action What do students plan to…. • Discover about themselves while at NJSLC • Develop personally while at NJSLC • Deliver to their peers and institutions when they return from NJSLC
