  2. Mike Lupica’s Life Mike Lupica was born on May 11, 1952 in Oneida, New York. Mike Lupica was born to Benedict and Lee Lupica. He attended Boston College and then graduated in 1975, about a year after starting. Then in 1986, he married a girl named Taylor. He later on had four children. Mike Lupica also wrote magazines and newspapers before writing novels. Today Mike Lupica lives in New Canaan, Connecticut, and is still alive.

  4. THE BATBOY The Batboy is a realistic fiction story that takes place at Comerica Park. In this story Brian, a fourteen year old boy, is a batboy with his friend Kenny for the “Detroit Tigers”. It is Brian’s dream to meet Hank Bishop, and now he is trying to pursue that goal. Brian gets sad when he thinks of baseball because his dad loved the sport too, before he moved to Japan. When Brian meets Hank, Hank is not excited about his presence, but in the end, they become good friends. I found this book to be interesting, if you like baseball, you’ll like it.

  5. TRAVEL TEAM The Travel Team is a realistic fiction story about a boy, named Danny, who is too short to play for the Middletown basketball team. The characters are Danny, his father, and his mother. Danny and his mother live in Middletown, Ohio. Danny gets upset because he can’t follow in his fathers footsteps. His father played for the Middletown basketball team when he was younger. Danny practices all the time and finally, he makes it into a basketball team he and his father created called the Warriors. Danny is very proud of himself. I think this is a fun story that has a great life lesson. (If you try you will succeed. )

The problem is, Danny (the main character) is too short to play basketball. • This story is about baseball. • In this story, the boy is 14. • The problem is Brian (the main character) is bullied.

  7. Similarities Between Stories • The first way that the Travel Team and The Batboy are similar are, they are both about sports. • Second, the main characters are boys. • And finally, the fathers in the story don’t show up a lot.
