6. Climate change and growing energy demand are global problems, requiring global responsibility;
Energy is a European security issue; an energy crisis for one Member State is a crisis for the EU (solidarity);
European Union allocates financial resources for energy projects and energy research;
Each country has the right to choose its own energy mix. Each country mix will be checked against three strategic objectives: green, secure, and competitive energy;
Decision to invest in nuclear power remains with national governments;
Social dialog o social issues in the European energy Community;
The rights of energy consumers (Energy Charter project).

7. Convergence of the Romania’s interests with the strategic objectives of the EU:
Great potential for renewable energy and for energy saving;
Availability of the natural and skilled human resources for nuclear energy-important for CO2 reduction and security of supply;
Frontrunner in liberalizing of the energy market and supporter of a true internal energy market within the EU, connected with South East Europe (The Energy Community Treaty);
Access to the European financial resources as a country member;
Supporter and participant in the European energy diplomacy;
Part of the European important energy projects: NABUCCO; interconnection of the electricity grids;
Romania – important actor in the Black See region; Turkey

Integration of energy policies with other policies: environment, agriculture, transport, trade ;
Regulations and standards;
Internal energy market of the EU-transparent and competitive: the consumers are paying the price of barriers to competition;
Trans European Energy Networks (TEN-E);
Scheme for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading within the EU: a price on carbon dioxide emission;
Taxation: Member States can grant tax advantages to businesses that take measures to reduce their emissions;
European energy diplomacy (one voice).
