  1. TCCC – TC on Computer Communications • Focus on systems which integrate communications features with computer systems: • Multimedia Technology (Chair: Jörg Ott, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland) • Systems (Chair: Joe Bumblis, University of Wisconsin-Stout, U.S.A.) • Wireless/Mobility (Chair: Matthias Frank, University of Bonn, Germany) • Peer-to-peer (Chair: David Hausheer, University of California Berkeley, U.S.A., on leave from University of Zürich, Switzerland) • Smart Grid (Chair: Archan Misra, Singapore Management University, Singapore) – Extension in 2010 • Security (Chair: Katrin Hoeper, Motorola, U.S.A.) – Extension in 2010 • Network Monitoring/Measurements/Accounting (Chair: Anura Jayasumana, Colorado State University, U.S.A.) – Extension in 2010 • TCCC Chair: Burkhard Stiller, University of Zürich, Switzerland Finance Chair: Frank Huebner, AT&T, U.S.A. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 1

  2. TCCC • Sponsored Conferences 2010 • 6th International Conference on "Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications" (WiMob 2010), Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, October 11-13, 2010: http://conferences.computer.org/wimob2010/ (50, TCCC chairs involved in TPC) • 35th IEEE Conference on "Local Computer Networks" (LCN 2010), Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. on October 12-14, 2010: http://www.ieeelcn.org/ (220, TCCC chairs involved in OC & TPC) • 18th Annual Meeting of the IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunication Systems (MASCOTS 2010), Miami Beach, Florida, USA, August 17-19, 2010: http://mascots2010.cis.fiu.edu/ (50, TCCC chairs involved in TPC) • 11th IEEE International Symposium on a "World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks“ (WoWMoN 2010) was run in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, June 14-17, 2010: http://wowmom2010.netgroup.uniroma2.it/ (50, TCCC chairs involved in TPC) • 8th IEEE International Conference on "Pervasive Computing and Communications" (PerCom 2010) was run in Mannheim, Germany, March 29-April 2, 2010: http://www.percom.org/ (200+, TCCC chairs involved in TPC of collocated workshop) • Technically Co-sponsored Conferences 2010 • 7th Annual International Conference on "Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services" (MobiQuitous 2010) • International ICST Conference on Simulation Tools and Techniques (SIMUTools 2010) • Euro American Association on Telematics and Information Systems (EATIS 2010) • Global Mobile Congress (GMC 2010), Shanghai, China • Collaboration with TCSEM (Technical Committee on Semantic Computing) • Set-up of the CfP and respective input to it for the IEEE International Conference on Semantic Computing this fall (http://www.ieee-icsc.org). May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 2

  3. TCCC • Reaching the Members • TCCC ExCom meeting at conference (LCN), open to guests and people interested • Web presence at http://tab.computer.org/tccc/ with a basic information set • E-mail exploder (maintained by IEEE CS, with many old and incorrect e-mail addresses) • TCCC ExCom members located in • Percentage of industrial members: 2 out of 9 (22.2%) • TCCC members located around the world • Percentage of industrial members not known • TC members perceive as benefits of being a TC member: • Invitations to TCCC conference TPCs and OCs (according to expertise) • Invitations to focus actively the areas of TCCC’s work May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 3

  4. TCCC • Recent Accomplishments/Highlights • Running (operational and supervision) in 2010 the 35th IEEE LCN – the longest running networking conference in IEEE • LCN is ranked in the top CS conferences and sees an extremely large number of paper downloads from IEEE Xplore. • Extension of TCCC ExCom by Smart Grid, Security, and Network Monitoring/Measurements/Accounting areas • Plans • Next LCN 2011, October 4-7, 2011 in Bonn, Germany • Next TCCC ExCom meeting collocated with LCN 2011 • Challenges • Bureaucratic and cumbersome path of selected interactions with CS (in particular: Technical Co-Sponsorship requests/ approvals), lack of timely responses by CS re TCCC chair’s requests/questions pertaining to TCCC member services • Enabling a budget transfer between calendar years May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 4
