SpecialguestswillincludeformerSpongeBob SquarePants head writerStevenBanks, Latino Comics Expo founderRicardoPadilla, and the Imperial501stLegionin fullStar Warscostume. “The Salinas Public Libraryis veryexcited aboutcollaboratingwiththe NationalSteinbeckCenterforthe 2ndAnnualSalinasValleyComic Con,” said LibrarianKristen Amaral. “We wanttopromote literacyby focusingon graphic novelsfromaroundthe world and consideringhowgraphic novelsengage and inspireyoungandmaturereadersalike.” On Friday, December18 at4:00 PM, the NationalSteinbeckCenterwillhostareceptionformuseummembers andVIP ticketholderswherethey willmingle withartists andspecialguestsand getasneak peekattheBatman artshow. Theeveningwillalsoincludea paneldiscussion abouttheimpactof graphic novels andliteracy. SalinasValleyComic Con booths willopento ticketholdersatthe NationalSteinbeckCenterat10:00AM on Saturday, December19 and closeat5:00 PM onSunday, December20. TheJohn SteinbeckLibrary willhostfreefamilyactivitiesanda graphicnoveldisplayon Saturday,December19.The Librarywillalso hostagame online whereparticipants can win specialprizesbyusing theirlibrarycards.Participants canjoininthefun by visitingThe Library’s website(www.salinaspubliclibrary.org) forfulldetails.
