PERQUIMANS CENTRAL SCHOOL SMART Goal #1: By June 2017, student proficiency in TRC will increase to the following rates: Kindergarten – 85%, 1st Grade – 80%, 2nd Grade – 60% as measured by EOY TRC assessments as a result of implementing a comprehensive school-wide literacy program. Key Process: Implement Guided Reading Key Process: Reading Interventions Process Check: Anecdotal notes/Running records Observations/Walkthroughs Lesson Plan Review Process Check: Progress Monitoring Fidelity Literacy Support Schedules Action Steps: Action Steps: 1. Progress Monitoring and Literacy Interventions from Reading 3D . 1. Daily small group differentiated reading instruction with leveled readers . 2. Reading Logs 2. Reading Recovery – 3 certified RR teachers providing support for 6 students. 3. Variety of resources including fiction and non-fiction in print or electronic form such as leveled readers, Reading A-Z, and Scholastic News. 3. Increase in AIG identification/nurture students. 4. Vertical and Horizontal collaboration with EC team to have more consistent grade level collaboration . MTSS process subject teams to review core curriculum. 4. Fully implement Reading 3D. 5. Vertical alignment meetings to strengthen consistency in TRC Written Component. 5. PLC to discuss planning and meeting student needs for interventions 6. Integrate technology resources as appropriate including Accelerated Reader, Nooks, iPads, iPods, instructional websites, and e-books. 7. Research based programs (iStation and LLI). SchoolNet for benchmark testing.

Key Process: Continue Implementation of Letterland systematic phonics program Key Process: Continue Implementation of Lucy Calkins Writer’s Workshop Process Check: Weekly assessments Progress Monitoring Lesson Plan review Process Check: Quarterly writing assessments and pre-assessments Lesson Plan review Action Steps: Action Steps: • Training for all new staff on Letterland. • Grade level scoring of writing to increase fidelity • Fast Track in Kindergarten and for new incoming students to PCS • K-2 Rubric continuum to assess writing progress • Fully implement Letterland with fidelity all grade levels. 3. Key Process: Core Math Instruction Key Process: Math Interventions Process Check: Benchmark Assessments Lesson Plan Review Observations/Walkthroughs Process Check: Progress Monitoring with Fidelity Action Steps: Action Steps: 1.Differenticited Small Group Math Instruction 1. Whole group and differentiated small group instruction 2. PLC to discuss planning and meeting student needs for interventions 3. Increased formative assessments 4. Begin implementation of Research based intervention programs for MTSS such as Do the Math. 5. Increase in AIG identification/nurture students. 2. Common grade level homework 3. Online resources for differentiation, such as ABC Mouse, Starfall, Tenmarks, etc. 4. Lessons for Learning, Wiki, and additional resources from NCDPI 5. Use of manipulatives for math instruction. Daily Guided Math instruction.

PERQUIMANS CENTRAL SCHOOL SMART Goal #3: By June 2017, student achievement gaps will decrease in all subject areas to the following rates: Kindergarten – 7%, 1st Grade – 3%, 2nd Grade – 4% as measured by EOY benchmark assessments as a result of implementing culturally sensitive, research-based best practices and effectively implementing the MTSS process. PBIS committee meets weekly to identify at-risk students and provide behavior interventions. 4. Documented supplemental and intensive interventions with fidelity 5. Parent Involvement committee providing support for at risk students (WIN and STEAM time). 5. Data analysis at monthly staff meetings and monthly PBIS committee meetings. 6.
