  1. 4 Kinds of sentences A declarative sentence makes a statement. It ends in a period. ( EXAMPLE: My car is black.) An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends with a question mark. (EXAMPLE: What time is it?) An imperative sentence gives a command or makes a request. It ends with a period. (EXAMPLE: Shut the door.) An exclamatory sentence expresses a strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation mark. (EXAMPLE: Bryce’s hair is on fire!)

  2. Tuesday was election day. The sky is blue. Cows moo. DECLARATIVE SENTENCES Holden has a poodle. Mrs. Farmer teaches math. (statements) Rachel loves to sing. Our last day of school is May 26th. Today is Thursday.

  3. Can I have your phone number? How many questions has Eli asked today? (questions) INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES Where were you on the night of June 11th? What’s up?
