  5. Severe floodsNovember/December 2010. In the period from 8.november till the end of december, area of Montenegro was exposed to a series of cyclones which influenced a frequent rain and heavy precipitation, and extraordinary high air temperatures. Heavy rain series influenced a sudden increase of water levels, which were till that date on the level of low waters. As a consequence of the synergy of three factors: heavy precipitation, lack of snow and melting of the existing snow cover and strong south wind, hydrological situation became extremely severe in hydrological system Zeta-Morača-SkadarLake-Bojana. These combination of meteorological parameters on an already loaded water systems have induced alarming character and and influenced the floods. www.hmz.gov.me; office@meteo.co.me

  8. Using the forecast models and data from hydrological stations and expertise of our forecasters and hydrologist, we manage to announce severe floods to the Government and public 7 days in advance.

HMI of Montenegro became a member of EUMETNET On 1st January of 2011 HMI of Montenegro became a member of EUMETNET, fallowing conclusion from the 5th EUMETNET session on the adoption of new members. Official acceptance of HMI of Montenegro in EUMETNET was during the 6th Session of EUMETNET, held in Dubrovnik. Membership in this structure was supported through DRR project.

  10. Visit of the Executive Director of EUMETNET to HMI • On 27. September 2011. ED of EUMETNET Steve Noyes has been in official visit to HMI. • It was a first visit of Mr. Noyes after that HMI has became a member of EUMETNET. • Director Noyse presented: • general information about EUMETNET network, activities, programmes and strategies • future activities for the period 2013-2017.

  11. World Meteorological DayWorld Water Day In the occasion of World Meteorological Day – opened a new meteorological station in Cetinje. This is a ninth automatic station with real time, on-line data in the meteorological station network. Fallowing the theme of World Water Day „Water for cities“ we invited the director of PE for “Water supply” of the municipality Cetinje, to present the problems and future solutions in water supplying of the city. www.meteo.co.me; office@meteo.co.me

  13. IPA cross-border project IPA Cross border programme Croatia-Montenegro “Joint Promotion and Increased Level of Safety of Nautical Tourism in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Montenegrin Coast”. Cooperation between Hydrometeorological Institute of Montenengro and Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia, with main aim to upgrade the touristic (and especially nautical) potential of Dubrovnik county and Montenegrin coast, through joint promotion as unique touristic unit of rich cultural and natural heritage. www.meteo.co.me; office@meteo.co.me

Project has upgraded technical capacities of Hydrographic Sector by purchasing the fallowing equipment: • GPS receiver • CTD probe • Tide gauge - mobile • ADCP – Acoustic Doppler Current Profile • Gravitation corer • Single beam echo sounder • Central unit for SBES NAVISOUND 215 • Terrain and surface modeling software www.meteo.co.me office@meteo.co.me

  15. HMI has professional equipment and software for bathymetric measurements, two mareograph stations in Kotor and Bar, hydrographic boat ; • Elements of bathymetric system: • Ultra-sound echo souder, GPS receiver, hydrographic-navigation software HYPACK, PCs www.meteo.co.me office@meteo.co.me

  16. Using hydrographic equipment and expertise of HMI staffs till now have done: bathymetric measurements of Skadar lake and Plavsko lake, and surveys of numerous marinas and ports on Adriatic coast. Hydrographic boat ČH-1 is used for hydrographic surveys and measurements

  17. Navigation map produced for ensuring save navigation on the sea and inland paths. Map has been produced in R 1: 25 0000 and its a first map for Montenegro aquatoria with a state symbol. www.meteo.co.me; office@meteo.co.me
