  2. Planning “Splash Back” • The area behind the bubblers looked tired and dirty. • Year 6 organised the whole school to help design a tile splash back. • Every student and staff member would be able to contributed by painting a tile based on their favourite creature under the sea.

  3. Design • Step 1: Draw our “Under the Sea” design on a piece of paper and research what animal were going to do. • Ideas included jellyfish, butterfly fish electric eels, seahorses, crabs but most kids did turtles! • Step 2: Once we were happy with our basic design we chose our colours.

  4. Transfer of design • Step 3: Get a tile and transfer our animal design on it in lead pencil. • Step 4: When we were happy with our design we had to colour it in with our special ceramic paint. • We had to be careful that we didn’t smudge the wet paint.

  5. Adhering the Tiles • Step 5: Time to put the tiles on the wall • We discussed the whole process with Mr Stephenson (our General Assistant) • Step 6: Mr Stephenson went shopping for the special adhesive needed and helped us put them up on the wall.

  6. THE FINISHED PROJECT • The tiles definitely brightened up the area. • The infants particularly enjoyed finding their tiles and showing their parents. • We put blank tiles for new students who come to our school so they too can design their own tile.

  7. Thankyou Thank you to all helpers and students at Mount Kanwary P.S.
