  2. Kingdom of God • Kingdom of God, also called Kingdom Of Heaven, or the fulfillment on Earth of God’s will. • It is generally considered to be the central theme of Jesus’ teaching. • The idea of God as king was fundamental to Judaism, and Jewish ideas on the subject undoubtedly underlie, the New Testament usage.

  3. Different Translations • The Greek word for kingdom (basileia) • Aramaic term malkut; Malkut refers primarily not to a geographical area or realm nor to the people inhabiting the realm but, rather, to the activity of the king himself, his exercise of sovereign power. • “My Kingdom is not of this world”- Jesus to the Sanhedrin

  4. “For Thine is the Kingdom” • Jesus would “inherit the Kingdom,” an expression which emphasizes that the Kingdom was thought of as a divine gift, not a human achievement. • According to the first three Gospels, most of Jesus’ miraculous actions are to be understood as prophetic symbols of the coming of the Kingdom

  5. “The Power” • The presence and coming of the Kingdom of God was the central message of Jesus. • Jesus’ teaching was designed to show men how they might enter the Kingdom of God • His mighty works were intended to prove that the Kingdom of God had come upon them • His parables illustrated to His disciples the truth about the Kingdom of God.

  6. “The Glory” • And when He taught His followers to pray, at the heart of their petition were the words, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven“. • The kingdom of God is the rule of an eternal sovereign God over all creatures and things • The kingdom of God is also the designation for the domain of salvation entered into at the new birth.

  7. God’s People • The Church • The term by which the New Testament writers denote the society founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ • Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) – Religious instruction given to us by The Catholic Church to help us lead a life of Christ.

God’s Place • Rosary – One of the most powerful forms of formal prayer. “Wedding of Cana, Jesus will never say no to his mother” • Magnificent – Prayer which came from Mary visitation to Elizabeth. • Glory Be to the Father – Second “doxology” (a Hymn of Prayer or praise to God) • Included in the Rosary with “Our Father” in In 529 AD at the Second Synod of Vasio in Gaul • A “Synod” is a special gathering of the Church Council to discuss various issues.
