  1. The Kingdom of God A Preview By Jack R. Taylor

  2. The Kingdom of God: A Preview The overarching theme of Scripture is the wondrous Kingdom of God. A working knowledge of the Kingdom is absolutely essential to . . . well, it is essential to EVERYTHING! The Kingdom of God is the end to which everything else is the means. This study is set in that perspective and will proceed with that as a given.

  3. The Kingdom of God: A Preview Another way to say it is: The Kingdom is not the most important thing: it is everything. This is to say that nothing of eternal worth is left out of the Kingdom of God and nothing but the Kingdom will survive time. The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven are synonymous, the first being a Greek term, the second being a Jewish term. We will use the former and capitalize it to denote God’s realm over against other governments.

  4. The Kingdom: An End Everything is a means to which the Kingdom is the end. “Beware of limiting the word “gospel” to what we call “Christ’s atoning sacrifice. The truth is, the reenthronement of God in man is in the deepest sense, the evangel, the good news, the gospel. The reinstatement of God’s dominion in this insurgent world is the grand and blessed fact of human time. To this one supreme end everything else is instrumental; for example:

  5. The Kingdom: An End God’s Bible is instrumental in way of informing and guiding. God’s providence is instrumental in way of controlling the affairs of men, the march of human events, the progress of discoveries. God’s Spirit is instrumental in way of quickening, illuminating and building. God’s Son is instrumental in way of reconciling, rectifying and saving.

  6. The Kingdom: An End Nay, the “atonement:” is but a means to an end, and this end is the reestablishment of God’s empire in man, the restoration of God’s diadem over mankind, the return of God to walk again with his children in the garden at the cool of day. God’s reenthronement means man’s salvation, even as man’s salvation means God’s reenthronement”. (Quote from recently republished book, The Kingdom by George Dana Boardman first published in 1899 along with its sequel, The Church, first published in 1903. Available through Destiny Image).

  7. Vital Scriptures for our study: Psalm 29:10 “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as King forever.” Psalm 45:4-5 “Your throne will last forever and ever; the scepter of justice will be the scepter of your Kingdom.”

  8. Vital Scriptures for our study: Psalm 47:6-9 “Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne . . . the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.”

  9. Vital Scriptures for our study: Psalm 93:1-2 “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved; your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.” Psalm 102:12 “But you, O Lord, are enthroned forever; your renown endures for all generations.”

  10. Vital Scriptures for our study: Psalm 103:19-20 “The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his Kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word”. Note: These are only a few of many passages in the Psalms that denote the point that is the foundation of this study: GOD RULES!!!

  11. God Rules! God rules, always has, always will and rules at this present, throbbing moment. Any other kind of God than this is absolutely irrelevant, totally useless and a complete waste of time. The sovereignty of God is the foundation of time and eternity. If there hadn’t been such a God as this, there should have been. Fix this thought so deeply in your mind that none can touch it to remove it and so close to your consciousness that it shades and colors every thought, word and deed.

  12. God Rules! The grand theme of time and eternity is . . . GOD RULES! He rules personally, persistently, lovingly, purposefully, powerfully; He desires our praises, demands our praises and deserves our praises. Every name He has should prompt praises from our lips: He is: Sovereign Lord, Almighty God, Lord of Hosts, King of Glory, Lord Most High, Jireh, Nissi, Rophe, Shalom, Rohi, Shammah and many others ALL DENOTING ONE WHO RULES ETERNALLY AND HOW HE RULES!
