  1. Iraq The United States Occupation and the Consequences of War 2008 - Present

  2. The effect on the United States of America Operation “Iraqi Freedom” has been a major cause for U.S. deficit and continues to add American casualties. • Total U.S. Military deaths since 2003: 4,383 Americans. • Total wounded in U.S. Military since 2003: 9,496 Americans. • Estimated total cost of U.S. war funding since 2003: 1.05 Trillion dollars

  3. The effect on the United States of America “People do not want war. War springs from causes wholly outside the lives, interests, and feelings of the people.” – Frederic Clemson Howe, Why War 2003: 486 U.S. deaths 2004: 849 U.S. deaths 2005: 846 U.S. deaths 2006: 822 U.S. deaths 2007: 904 U.S. deaths 2008: 314 U.S. deaths 2009: 149 U.S. deaths 2010 (So far): 13 U.S. deaths • Total Estimated American deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2003: 4,383 deaths. • The total estimated amount of Americans wounded is much higher. They are guessing around 9,496. • These numbers are approximate estimations, there are soldiers that are not counted for and possibly missing. One would think that the U.S. could at least keep track of its own military personnel. These soldiers were family members and friends. They died for an unknown cause in an unjustified war.

  4. The effect on the United States of America “Because the world is in economic recession, which worsened since this drama happened, our country will bear the burden of all of these consequences.” – Omar Bongo • Approximate total cost of U.S. wars Since 2001: $973,004,328,840 AND GROWING. • Approximate cost of war in Iraq: $712,752,423,442 AND GROWING • See costofwar.com for a continuous counter on these numbers. • Note: these numbers are growing rapidly and are very likely a lot greater than what is estimated. • Other sources have said that the United States cost of the wars since 2001 are well over two trillion dollars AND GROWING. These costs are the cause of the current United States deficit; before the Bush administration and the wars in the middle east, the Clinton administration had the U.S. economy growing and with very little to no deficit.

  5. The effect on Iraq “This was not an act of terrorism, but it was an act of war.” – George W. Bush Documented Iraqi civilian death count: around 95,641 - 104,340 killed. • Recorded deaths since April 28, 2005 (After Shiite-led government announced): 7,610 Police/Military deaths, 47,340 Civilian deaths, 54,950 Total deaths. (Estimated) • Recorded deaths since February 22, 2006 (After Al-AskariMosique bombing): 5,312 Police/Military deaths, 41,232 Civilian deaths, 46,544 Total deaths. (Estimated) Recorded Iraqi Security Forces(ISF) deaths since 2005: 8,144. Death count prior to 2005: UNKNOWN These numbers are much more less accurate than the U.S. death count. The amount of civilians killed during the United State’s occupation in Iraq is uncountable. Homes have been destroyed, cities have been burned, and lives have been ruined for these people. The U.S. invasion has basically demolished the way these people live and left their society in peril. Better steps should have been taken to remove Saddam Hussein and still leave a functioning government behind. When the U.S. finally pulls out of Iraq, it is easy to think that the Iraqi community will be left in some form of unorganized anarchy.
