  2. Ch II Main Characters New-Fist-Hammer-Maker – a doer in his tribe – realized that if the young in the tribe were taught skills, the entire tribe would benefit, and do so earlier then ever before.

  3. Ch II Main Issue/Event/Conflict Three main skills were taught in the school – Catching fish by hand Clubbing horses Scaring away saber-toothed tigers When things change – the school doesn’t change with it….

  4. Ch II Historical Connections Basic skills are taught in the USA schools: Reading, writing, etc., problem is that the war comes and we need to provide young men to fight, not for school

  5. Ch II Present Day Connections We still teach things in school that are no longer applicable: cursive…. We don’t even know why we are doing it… just because we always have…
