  2. Why? A unique cross curricular learning experience, with a difference! To develop self-esteem, personal and social skills Team building / peer support To promote keeping fit and healthy Give sense of achievement To increase confidence and positive attitudes Realise potential and use initiative To have fun outdoors!

  3. Who? • Miss Barnes (Party Leader and responsible for medication) • Mr Guest (Party Leader) • Ms Perrin • Mrs Wright/Mrs Batstone/ Mrs Hughes • Mr Barratt/Ms Kettlety/Ms Strachan • PGL instructors

  4. WHERE? • Osmington Bay, near Weymouth, Dorset The Jurassic Coast! • The local scenery around Osmington Bay is very picturesque: a mosaic of chalk down-land, clay vales, rugged coastal cliffs and sweeping heathland. • Below the PGL centre is a private beach, where Jurassic fossil-rich rocks and a rocky shoreline, provide an ideal study location.

  5. What? • Educational and motivational activities in the morning which enhance the Year 5 curriculum • Stamina/fitness/perseverance/confidence/team building activities in the afternoon e.g. Aeroball, low ropes, giant swing, quad bikes etc • Team building activities in the evening: camp fire games & songs etc • Accommodation: en suite rooms: sleeping 3 – 6 (room choice to be sorted nearer the time) • Food and Drink: Tasty and nutritional, with a wide choice and vegetarian options.

  6. What? • Kit List : • ALL ITEMS MUST BE NAMED • Suitcase and small backpack for tuck/drink bottle • Sleeping bag or duvet and pillow with covers in a strong bag • Suitable nightwear • Two towels • Water bottle • Sunscreen (at least factor 30) • Labelled bag for dirty laundry • Underwear • Waterproof trousers/leggings (no jeans) • Shorts • Trainers • Wellies • Pair of other sensible footwear (not flip-flops) • Several pairs of socks • Fleeces/sweatshirts • Long sleeved T-shirt • Short-sleeved T-Shirt • Coat/cagoule • Cap,/sun hat • Warm clothes for the evening (can be chilly near the beach!) • Toiletries/wash bag (toothbrush/paste/shampoo etc)

  7. What? • Please bring plenty of healthy tuck (non-perishable and nut free) for the coach journey and break-times during the week (packed in food container, inside suitcase, except tuck required for journey to and from centre) • Up to a maximum of £10 pocket money – there is a souvenir shop! Children are responsible for their own spending money • NO mobile phones, electronic equipment, jewellery or valuables • YES: torches, watches, disposable/budget cameras are permitted.

Tuesday 14 – 17 May 2019 SAMPLE DAY • Wake up, get washed and dressed: 07:00 - 08:15 • Breakfast: 08:15 – 09:00 • Educational Enhancement Session or Activity 1: 09:00 – 10:30 • Break: 10:30 – 10:45 • Educational Enhancement Session or Activity 2: 10:45 – 12:15 • Lunch and Play Break: 12:15 – 13:45 • Fitness/Team Building Activity Session 3: 13:45 -15:15 • Break: 15:15 – 15:30 • Fitness/Team Building Activity Session 4: 15:30 – 17:00 • Break: 17:00 – 17:30 • Dinner/Play Time: 17:30 - 19:00 • Evening Entertainment: Camp fire, Team Building Activities: 19:00 – 21:00 • Get ready for bed and lights out: 21:00 – 21:30 • Sleep: 21:30 – 07:00

  9. Travel Arrangements • Distance from Bath to Osmington Bay: 65 miles Travelling time: approximately two hours • Tuesday 14th May: parents drop off cases/duvets and pillows in The Paragon Open Air Theatre (next to The Music Lodge), before 8:40am. Children take their own small travel backpack, containing snacks (no fizzy drinks) for the journey, to the playground • All medication (in a transparent freezer bag: named with instructions) must be given to Miss Barnes. Children needing inhalers, must keep them in their waist-belts during the journey and throughout their stay at Osmington Bay. • During the morning, all suitcases etc will be transported up to PPC. The children will be bussed to PPC to board the coach. • Friday 17th May 4:15pm: arrive back at PPC (text message to be sent if coach is delayed)
