Two nearby campgrounds, as well as the Kalaloch Lodge, make this an ideal national park beach for families, and a destination in itself. This is a wide, sandy beach hemmed in by a classic coastal forest, with Kalaloch Rocks, a series of sea stacks, just offshore. Piles of massive driftwood have been shoved up by the tides against the forested slopes. At low tide, when the rocks are left sitting in their shallow pools, you can poke around to find starfish and barnacles.

If you love camping but don’t love roughing, there’s a new movement just for you called ‘Cabineering.’ A term coined by Delaware North Companies Parks and Resorts, which operates at scenic and historic properties across North America and Australia, presents the Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone. The 50-cabin property is scheduled to open mid-July in West Yellowstone, Montana. The overarching goal of Explorer Cabins is to "provide a unique vacation experience by combining several lodging movements, including cabineering, "generational travel" and dog-friendly travel...in a remote area."

They're dog-friendly and feature fireplaces, granite counters, front porches, WiFi and flat-screen televisions. The 50-cabin property is scheduled to open July 1. Different from "glamping," the "glamorous camping" that lends itself to luxury linens, gourmet meals and personal butlers or maids, "cabineering" is designed for people who like to be out in nature "but they like all the creature comforts of home," Abramson told UPI. "We're trying to relate to a bigger cross-section of America, people ... that haven't visited the parks for one reason or another.“
