  4. Schedule Changes • Mistakes to your schedule • NO Teacher or Period Changes • Moving from Honors/AP to college prep • There may not be room in the regular class • Periods/teachers may change • Dropping a class: Parent Permission REQUIRED • Athletic teams or auditioned for a program

  5. Schedule Changes Continued… • Electives – End of the week • Level Changes – 6 week grading period • Dropping a course – up to week 4 without record on transcript • Week 2 on – only changing to TA or 5 classes

  6. Attendance & Tardies

  7. Clearing Full Day Absence • Have parents call attendance office the day of the absence • If NOT cleared within 2 days, absence turns into truancy (full-day cutting) Hour missed = Hour owed • Notes will be accepted but the office prefers a phone call • If you are ever out of class without an excuse, you'll have to make the hour up in detention or SWAP • If your legal guardians/parents leave the country, they MUST assign a temporary guardian through attendance

First Period Absences • We can't accept transportation, baby-sitting, or " didn't wake up on time" as an excused absence. • The consequence for a first period unexcused absence will result in detention - one hour for each period missed • Be CAREFUL, when you accumulate unexcused absences, you may be suspended and referred to the District Office

  9. Arriving Late & Leaving Early • Sign in/out at the attendance office when arriving late or leaving early • Failure to follow these directions may result in consequences assigned by GLC • Leaving campus without permission = SWAP, detention, suspension, or a combination.

  10. Tardies • No “excused” tardies • 3 FREE tardies to class per semester • 4th Tardy = consequences begin • 9th + Tardies = Suspension

Unannounced You must have both a HALL PASS and TEACHER'S PERMISSION when walking outside of class after the bell rings If you are caught outside class without a pass, even though your teacher has given you permission, you will get a detention PE classes must be inside the locker room to be safe from the tardy sweep TARDY SWEEPS

Expectations • Zero Tolerance: • Fighting • Intimidation or threats (including on the internet) • Possession or being under the influence of drugs or arranging the sale or purchase of drugs/vapes • Possession or being under the influence of alcohol on campus or at any campus event • Weapons of any kind or look-alike weapons • Defiance or disrespect • Sexual Harassment • Campus threats will result in police prosecution

Emotional Argument with Another Student • Don't bring in a 3rd party • Don't approach another student with a group of your friends • Don't bring non-DBHS students to campus • Find a peaceful solution if you want to stay at DBHS • Use the peer counselors and the Wellness Center (Room 254)NO Cyberbullying / Social Media • LET YOUR GLC KNOW • “Jordan’s Law” – Filming fights • Cameras on campus

  17. Safety & Security • Book Lockers – Don’t give out your combination • Don’t have a locker? See Mrs. Tampio (guidance office) • Book bags – Don’t leave them unattended! • Campus Safety – Crosswalks

  21. Behavior & Following Directions

  22. Electronic Goodies • Cell Phones are to be powered OFF. • They may only be used during Brunch & Lunch. Never in a classroom! Device out during class may be treated as CHEATING! • Video Cameras are prohibited - Keep your electronics off campus! • Ear Buds - OK to be used during Brunch and Lunch. Music should not be played so it disrupts other • Consequences include SWAP and suspensions for multiple violations • School day is 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

  23. Dress Code • Girls - Full shirts with straps. No stomachs showing. No Sheer Shirts • Boys - No boxers showing • Tank Tops can't be loose fitting • No Non-DBHS headgear (hats and hoods)No altered hats • No Inappropriate attire (weapons, narcotic, alcohol items, etc) • Violation of Dress Code = SWAP

Cheating • Teacher sends student to GLC and student earns a "0“ • GLC places student on Cheating Contract • Student given one more chance • On 2nd offense, student is suspended - May influence college recommendations • If you provide answers to another student, you are cheating. • Copying homework.

  27. Referrals • Take your referral directly to your GLC. Do not make a situation worse by arguing or making a scene. • If your GLC is not in their office, do not just sit and wait around. Take your referral immediately to the Guidance Office. • If you fail to report to your GLC or the guidance office, the consequence will increase

  28. Detention: 50 Minutes SWAP: 1-3 Hours on Saturday STAR: On Campus suspension Suspension off campus Don’t miss assigned consequences!!! Sequential Discipline

Miscellaneous • ID/Activity Card - carry your ID with you at all times while at school or attending a school event. • Athletic Pass or Early Release Sticker: Must have this with you EVERY DAY to leave early. • Forget ID and still need to leave = Detention • RESPECT SECURITY STAFF • Clearing campus - when your school day is over, get to your next destination (home, school activity, etc.). Don't "hang around“ • Athletic Conditioning – Period 6 • Leaving Campus at lunch and period 5 – Gate ONLY

  30. Miscellaneous • Student Gmail account - Check OFTEN! FWD to personal email if necessary • Late Start Days - check your school calendar for late start days • Rally Days - you are responsible for knowing which rally your period 4 class should attend • Parking on campus = Seniors ONLY
