  2. MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT • COMPANY MANAGEMENT MUST SUPPORT THE SAFETY PLAN • COMPANY MANAGEMENT MUST INCLUDE THE TOPIC OF SAFETY WHEN DISCUSSING FINANCIAL AND SCHEDULING PROJECT TOPICS WITH FIELD MANAGEMENT • PROJECT PRIORITIES MUST BE: 1.SAFETY 2.QUALITY 3.SCHEDULE 4.COST

  3. OWNER COMMITMENT • OWNERS MUST REQUIRE AND ENFORCE QUALITY SAFETY PLANS • IN MOST CASES, COMPANIES WILL NOT PRESS FOR SAFETY EXCELLENCE WITH OUT OWNER REQUIREMENT

  4. QUALITY SAFETY PLAN • IMPLEMENTING QUALITY IN TO A SAFETY PLAN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUANTITY • A QUALITY SAFETY PROGRAM MUST HAVE “TEETH” AND “MEANING”

  5. WORK PLAN • EMPLOYEES MUST HAVE DIRECTION AND GOAL • YOU MUST FIRST PLAN YOUR WORK AND THEN WORK YOUR PLAN

JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS • THE JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS (JSA) MUST BE DEVELOPED WITH SAFETY PROFESSIONALS AND FIELD PROJECT MANAGEMENT • THE JSA MUST ADDRESS MAJOR SITE SAFETY ISSUES, INCLUDING ELIMINATION OF MAJOR JOB SITE HAZARDS • THE JSA PLAN MUST BE COMMUNICATED TO AND ACCEPTED BY ALL EMPLOYEES AT THE WORK SITE

JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS • THE JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS (JHA) IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL OF A SUCCESSFUL SAFETY PROGRAM • THE JHA IS COMPLETED BY THE EMPLOYEES JUST PRIOR TO PERFORMING A WORK TASK • THE JHA IDENTIFIES WORK SITE HAZARDS AND DETERMINES HOW TO MITIGATE OR ELIMINATE THE HAZARD FROM THE ASSIGNED WORK TASK • THE JHA FORCES EMPLOYEES TO PLACE THEIR MIND ON SAFETY AND THE ASSIGNED WORK TASK. THE JHA IS THE LAST TASK PERFORMED PRIOR TO COMMENCING THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY OF THE WORK TASK

  8. SAFETY INCENTIVE PLAN • THE SAFETY INCENTIVE PLAN MUST MOTIVATE THE EMPLOYEES TO WORK SAFELY • THE SAFETY INCENTIVE SHOULD BE SIMPLE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND BY EMPLOYEES • EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXCITEDLY EXPLAIN HOW THE PLAN WORKS

  9. EMPLOYEE BUY IN TO SAFETY PLAN • EMPLOYEES MUST PERSONALLY BUY IN TO SAFETY PROGRAM • A CORE NUCLEUS OF EMPLOYEES WITH BUY IN TO A SAFETY PROGRAM WILL INFECT NEWER EMPLOYEES
