OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the Course, you will be able to; • Trace and explain the development of management thinking. • Examine and understand current management thinking. • Explain the various functions of management, the managerial design process, and discuss that process from globally and culturally diverse perspectives. • List, define and discuss various leadership styles, and analytical & quantitative techniques for planning and control. • Define the basic motives of humankind and be able to discuss applications of this knowledge in providing a motivated environment in the workplace. • Discuss the major multicultural diversity and global issues in management and apply the management theory and topics to current, real world organizations and issues.

  4. PRINCIPLE 1 CUSTOMER-CENTRICITY Organizations depend on their customers and therefore should be proactive in understanding current and future customer needs, meeting customer requirements, and striving to exceed customer expectations.

  5. PRINCIPLE 2 LEADERSHIP Establishes unity of purpose & direction of the organization. Leaders must create and maintain a permissive and non-punitive internal environment in which every employee can become fully involved in, and committed to achieving the organization's objectives.

  6. PRINCIPLE 3 ENGENDERING THE COMMITMENT & INVOLVEMENT OF PEOPLE Employees, at all levels, are the essence of an organization and their full involvement and commitment enables their abilities to be optimally applied for the organization's benefit.
