  1. 10 Life Lessons By: ShalynMaltais

  2. 1. Seize the day and love others like it would be your last. -The fault in our stars, by John Green • The point of the book Hazel read was that life stops suddenly without warning and closure. We can't add on to our story after we die, nor can we add on to others but we can keep others, how they were, in our hearts and minds after they go. • All we've learned from this whole Isaac getting dumped episode is that Monica totally sucks and that she did not truly love Isaac. Thankfully, Hazel and Augustus find that they are totally truly in love. • Other connection: Ross made a mistake when he and Rachel first got together. He made a list about all the things he didn’t like about her. While Ross was beginning to feel like he’ll never get with Rachel, Phoebe said it was going to happen because she was his lobster. She proceeded to say that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. - Friends, directed by David Crane and Marta Kauffman

  3. 2. Never judge a book by its cover. -Harry Potter (through out the whole series) written by J.K Rowling • Professor Snape is a great example with the ultimate plot twist. Through out the series it is known that Professor Dumbledore trusts Snape, I personally develop a deep hatred for Professor Snape through out the series. However, in the end, he redeemed himself by proving that he was always protecting Harry. Despite his greasy hair and obnoxious manner, Snape is a hero. • Hermione is muggle born and she enters the school of Hogwarts, she is expected not to do well because of her non magical background but she proves them wrong. • Other connection: Shrek is constantly getting judged based on his appearance but really he was the hero and proved everyone wrong. - Shrek, Directed by Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson

  4. 3. There’s Always More Than One Path To Your Destination. - Monsters University, Directed by Dan Scanlon • Mike’s one goal in life is to become a scarer and he thinks the only way to get there is by going to Monsters University. He’s shattered when this dream falls apart but he gets the job of his dreams eventually by following a different path. • Don Carlton doesn't follow his original dream of being a scarer because he “isn’t” scary, so they make him major in computer science. Mike and Sully had let him join their team for the Scare Games and that sets him back to his original dream. • Other Connection: In the Cat in the hat, the cat always finds another path to their destination. -The Cat in the Hat, written by Dr. Seuss

  5. 4. Sticking Up for Those Who Can't Stick Up for Themselves. -Charlotte’s Web, Written by E.B. White • Fern rescued newborn Wilbur from the axe. He was going to be killed because he was a runt. Fern told her father, “It's unfair; he can't help being born small....Would you have killed me if I was born small?” • Charlotte sticks up for Wilbur when the barn animals acts like snobs towards him and she shows compassion towards Wilbur which gives him some confidence towards the other animals • Other connection: In Stand by Me, They are always sticking up for each other and always there for each other. - Stand by Me, directed by Rob Reiner

  6. 5. Friends can come from the most unlikely places. - How the Grinch stole Christmas, written by Dr. Seuss • “So he called his dog, Max. Then he took some red thread. And he tied a big horn on the top of his head.” The best reindeer wasn’t a reindeer at all; it was a four legged furry friend. Max is the Grinch’s loyal and lovable sidekick. • Cindy Lou Who befriending the Grinch. • Other connection: In Pretty Little Liars, Emily befriends Toby. It was unlikely because he was accused of so many bad things and was portrayed to be a criminal. - Pretty Little Liars, written by Sara Shepard

  7. 6. Keep fighting, even when the odds of winning are low. -How to kill a mockingbird, written by Harper Lee • Atticus, is defending a black man, Tom Robinson, who was accused of raping a white woman, MayellaEwell, in court. • He is determined to win the case, but knows that he will most likely lose, with the whole town having bad opinion towards African Americans. • Other connection: In the hunger games, KatnissEverdeen is constantly fighting for her life not knowing the outcome. -Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins

  8. 7. There is more than one way to approach a problem. - Sherlock Holmes, Directed by Guy Ritchie • Sherlock Holmes uses many problem solving approaches. Sometimes he goes out in disguise and asks the right questions. Other times, he sits up all night smoking a pipe and thinking about it. At yet other times, he uses clever deception to draw the players into the game. If one approach fails, Sherlock wouldn’t stop there. He would try something else. • Sherlock will ask John Watson for advice when he needs it, or when he needs an average persons opinion. • Other connection: In Scooby Doo, The gang is constantly trying different approaches to solve the case. • - Scooby Doo was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears

  9. 8. Don’t be limited by the identity that others give you. - The Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton • Johnny wrote to Ponyboy encouraging him not to be limited by the identity others give him and he reminds him that there is still “lots of good in the world.”. • With hundreds of boys and girls divided and identified based on their wealth or lack of it and where they live in town. • Other connection: In Gossip Girl, Dan is judged by his peers because of where he lives. He is constantly trying to get out of that judgement, and wants them to like him for who he truly is. - Gossip Girl, Directed by: Mark Piznarski

  10. 9. Don’t be scared to try new things. -Green eggs and ham, written by Dr. Seuss • Acreature named Sam-I-am is trying to convince his larger friend to try green eggs and ham. No matter what Sam adds to the dish or how he dresses it up his friend just won’t give in. After constant pestering Sam’s friend does try the green eggs and ham he finds that he actually does like them. • Sam-I-am shows his friend that appearance doesn't matter. • Other Connection: Imalways afraid to try new things but if someone convinces me to try the new thing, I will do it depending on what the new thing is.

  11. 10. Happiness has very little to do with wealth. - Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens • Scrooge lost sight of what was really important to him in life because of the desire of wealth. • Bob is very humble and spends his earnings for the happiness of others, which brings him happiness. • Other Connection: In Harry Potter, The Weasley’s have very little money, and manage to create happiness with what they have. - Harry Potter (through out the whole series) written by J.K Rowling
