Conversion of RTW to OJT • Trainee must qualify for and enroll as a WIA Participant • OJT Training must fill a skills gap or provide marketable skills to the trainee, which he or she does not already possess • OJT Agreement must be signed BEFORE training begins • Trainee is a FT, benefits eligible employee, covered by the employer Workers’ Compensation, and paid at the same rate as trainees or employees with similar jobs and experience

  4. Conversion of RTW to OJT (cont) • Employer’s intention must be to retain trainee upon successful completion of the OJT • Trainee cannot displace any existing employee, or replace anyone who was laid off from similar position within past 6 months

OJT NEG Best Practices • OJT Staff with Sales Skills versus Human Service Skills • Facilitated cold calling and proactive employer contacts • Use of Salesforce Employer Database (Launched October 2012 • Maintained and Tracked company contacts and activities • Over 1,100 employer accounts added • Over 3,400 OJT development “activities” completed (i.e. calls, emails, etc.) • Sourced over 1,000 job opportunities • Increased productivity and consistency • Highest producing JPS team since initiative began in July 2010 • High level of customer satisfaction • Created Statewide Jobs Report • Facilitated job lead sharing with all NH Works partners • Built Social Media Presence

Work-Based Learning…ITA, OJT and Apprenticeship • Partnership with Vermont HITEC • Medical Assistants, Virtual Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, Registration Clerks • Marketing in two states (VT and NH) • Orientation to hundreds, narrowed through selection process • Classroom training, On-the-Job Training, Apprenticeship for 1 year.
