  5. Meeting the learner needs Effective leadership Quality assurance Information and Communications Technology and e-learning Strategicplanning

  6. What is Value for Money • Physical resources • Right ones • Right place • Right use • Human Resources • Right skills • Motivated • Empowered • Accommodation • Fit for purpose

  7. Key evaluators • Price • Fit for purpose • Effective • Efficient • Managed • Communicated • Used confidently • Strategic • Sustainable

  8. How do we get it right? Quality measures

  9. Quality measures • Quality control • Detection of unsatisfactory final products • Quality Assurance • Prevent faults by defining specifications / procedures • Total Quality Management • Creating a quality culture where all staff aim to please the learner

  10. How do we get it right? By listening to the inspectors

  11. Listening to the inspectors • Example of good practice • In several colleges the increasing use of e-learning by tutors and learners has led to this essential skill being assessed at enrolment or induction and developed if necessary, to allow learners to take full advantage of their course and the IT facilities provided. • Example of poor practice • The results of initial diagnostic assessment were available early on in the course, but were not made available to all staff concerned in the training and welfare of the learner. The transference of information regarding the programme of support drawn up for that learner had failed.

  12. College management structure Senior Managers Middle managers Teachers Support staff

  13. The beatings will continue until morale improves

  14. How do we get it right? Quality measures

  15. Educational quality structure Learners Teams -Teachers & support staff Leaders

  16. We are going to continue having these meetings every day until I find out why no work is being done

  17. We will know we have succeeded when the work gets done and the customers are happy

  18. Score 45 + You are either a very insecure principal or you have the only institution that is perfect. I would suggest you go back and have a real look at what is happening before the inspectors give you a shock Use Demonstrating Transformation to check your answers

  19. Less than 20 I can hear you crying from here. I would suggest you remove all sharp objects from your institution and concentrate on keeping staff suicides to a minimum. The inspectors may like your college so much they may decide to let another college run it Use Demonstrating Transformation at Senior Management level to kick start the institution into a new awakening

  20. 20 - 45 Most of us are in this group. Areas of good practice with some areas doing very well. Need to raise awareness, support staff through the changes, be positive and invest wisely Use Demonstrating Transformation to highlight areas and to make managers aware of the direction required
