  2. Subject – Verb #1 • To find the subject in a sentence, ask what or whom we are speaking about. • To find the verb in a sentence, ask what the person or thing is doing. Example: Fredhas gone to school. s . v. • The subject may be near the beginning, the middle, or end of a sentence. Example: Quickly, everyoneran from the house. s. v. Slide 1 of 3

  3. The subject may have two or more parts. Example: Boys and girlsattend our school. s. s. v. • The verb may also have two or more parts. Example: Iwillcall or write you soon. s. v. v. • Sometimes the subject is understood (not mentioned). Example: Give me the book. v. The subject is you. (You) give me the book. s. s. Slide 2 of 3
