The Solar System. By: Julia Barry, Brendan Hueth, and Taylor Zenner. The Sun. It is a big ball of gas! It is also the biggest star. The Sun provides us heat on a beautiful day, we really take advantage of the Sun here on Earth. 1, 000, 000 earths could fit inside the sun!

  1. The Solar System By: Julia Barry, Brendan Hueth, and Taylor Zenner.

  2. The Sun • It is a big ball of gas! • It is also the biggest star. • The Sun provides us heat on a beautiful day, we really take advantage of the Sun here on Earth. • 1, 000, 000 earths could fit inside the sun! • The Sun is the center of our solar system.

  3. The Solar System • 4, 500, 000, 000 years ago the Sun and the eight planets created a swirling disk of dust, and ice and a lot of gas in Space. • If you ever want to visit the solar system it is located in the Milky Way Galaxy.

  4. Moons • Gravity pulls the moons around! • They are bodies that orbit planets also called satellites. • All planets have Moons but dwarf Planets have none!

  5. Dwarf Planets It has a star shaped body a celestial body that orbits the star They are located in the KuiperBelt, so if you are looking for dwarf planets visit the KuiperBelt. On our trip we saw all of the three dwarf planets in KuiperBelt. The dwarf planets are called :Pluto, Ceres, and Eris.

  6. Asteroids • They are very important to us because they are full of iron. • Also they orbit the sun because of the Asteroid Belt located in the Solar System. • They are also rocky and have a planet like body. • Some asteroids can be huge and some can be really tiny.

  7. Comets • They are an object that is made of gas. • They travel around the Sun and then come back around earth and we get to see comets sometimes. • They go on long journeys around the Sun. • Most Comets are as big as Earth. • One major comet is called Hale-Bopp. • Hale-Bopp should return in about 2,400 years.

  8. Jupiter The King of the planets.

  9. Jupiter • The Four most popular moons are: Callisto, Europa, Io, and Ganymede. • But there are 8 more moons where that came from, for a total of 16 moons! • All of the moons are unique, and have special features of their own.

  10. Jupiter • Jupiter spins on its axis at a rate less than half the speed of Earth. • A day only takes 10 hours to our 24 hours here on Earth. • It’s incredible rotation speed, causes the most violent storms in all of the universe! • Despite the speed of Jupiter’s days, its year takes a whopping 12 Earth years to revolve around the Sun.

  11. Jupiter • Jupiter is so magnetic that once, it took a comet off its course and it hit Jupiter! • Jupiter has one red spot, that is home to the most violent storms ever discovered in the universe.

  12. The Planets • All the planets have their own shapes and sizes. • The biggest of all of them is Jupiter, the planet we’ve been studying. Then comes Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Venus, Earth, Mars. • The smallest of all is Mercury.

  13. The Planets • The planets are the largest members of our entire solar system. • They are all very different, some are rocky like earth, and some are composed entirely of gas.

  14. The Planets • There are a number of planets, 8 to be exact. • We counted them ourselves as we passed them. The order of the planets from the sun is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

  15. Planets • The Sun ,our star, has such a great gravitational pull, that it is able to keep all eight planets revolving around it. • In space we watched the planets rotate and revolve for days on end.
