  2. LONG TERM GOALS • Adopt 21st century teaching approaches to enhance questioning and encouraging skills • Students must have information about media technology • Ability to frame, analyze and solve problems • Monitoring one’s own understanding and learning needs

  3. SHORT TERM GOALS • Develop critical thinking by changing questions • Encourage to work with collaboration and interaction to get the best answers and results • To understand how to approach a word problems correctly

  4. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES AND TASK • Students use RUN strategy for every word problem • Clue words will help the students what to do in this problem add or subtract • I will allow students to discuss that how to best solve mathematical problems

  5. SOLUTIONS TO ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES CHALLENGES SOLUTION I will share the course manual and my notes from this course with my principal I will use my new word processing skills to inform parents of my new methods I will stay after school to use a computer in the school’s computer lab I will randomly group students to encourage collaboration with all class members • The principle may not agree with my new approaches • Parents may not understand my method • I do not own a computer • There may be some students who do not want to work together

  6. TIMELINE 4.I will successfully adopt 21st century teaching approached in my classroom 1.I will focus encouragement rather then praise 2.I will focus on questioning skills 3.I will work on creating collaborative groups or pairs

  8. CONCLUSION • By implementing my newly acquired 21st century teaching approaches, students will be empowered and will appreciate and gain a better knowledge of mathematics.
