  2. History • Westminster Abbey, Located near the houses of parliament, is more a historical site than a religious site. Since 1066 almost every carination was held there. The abbey also has many important people buried there. The history of the Abbey started in 1050 when Edward the Confessor decided to build an Abbey. An Abbey is a place where Monks live and Worship. Large parts were later added. The youngest part of the Abbey is the North Entrance built in the 19th century.
